SOURCE: my samsung 40" lcd power problem

I had the same problem with my Samsung LN26A450 LCD TV. I found the following YouTube video titled "Samsung TV Repair - Part 1 of 2) (also watch Part 2 of 2) which shows how to easily fix the problem. The problem is bad capacitors on the power supply board. My TV had seven (7) bad capacitors - all 7 had dark stains on the ends from leaking electrolytic fluid and one (10V 2200MFD) was blown with bulging ends. I ordered 7 new high-temp (105 degrees C) aluminum radial capacitors from matching the Temperature, Capacitances and Voltage Ratings for each damaged capacitor that I removed. I followed the instructions in the video except I used desoldering braid ($3.99 at RadioShack) to remove the solder attaching the bad capacitor leads to the power supply board. Once you wick up the old solder from all sides of each lead wire using the desoldering braid, the bad capacitors are easily removed. Total cost of repair including soldering equipment was less than $50. Thanks to “The Professor” for posting the video and saving me $400.

this is common fault the capacitors have blown on main power board you can replace your self if got soldering iron
take back off tv and look for capacitors that have RAISED TOPS they look like little batteries with white line on one side and numbers (e.g 2000mf 25v ) the best way to remember which way they go back is take picture
you can get parts from charles hyde and sons web site (CHS) under general components or at a electronic shop

SOURCE: Samsung LN46A550 LCD power on/off problem again.

It is the Main A/V board that is faulty, not the power supply. The rainbow screen that you are seeing and the searching for signal message before it shuts off confirms this. It is the large board at the center of the tv. If you can get me the part number off it, I can find you the replacement. It will be either printed on the board itself or on a small label.

SOURCE: my Samsung flat screen tv won't turn on and it

There's a couple transistors on the Power Supply board that are probably bad. On mine, the solder joint was bad on the bottom side of the board that pointed me at those transistors in particular. Part number is FQPF9N50C. Also, you could get a refurb or new power supply board of ebay or send your board in for service (also on ebay).Or there's a "repair kit" you can get that contains 4 transistors and a couple caps I think. If you are an electronics junky and like soldering stuff, that would be the way to go... I just ordered the two transistors off ebay for like $6.

Samsung UN46D7000 tv still isn't turning on. I've already replaced the power board (I think the original was fried in a power surge). There's no standby light either.

Fault at its main digital board. Short circuited component/s at it. Contact any service technician; or the authorized service center. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Pull up older posts. In most cases, the main board might have to be replaced. If so, a software [firmware] update too might be necessary.

Tv keeps turning off after turning it on.

Based on the lower specification of this TV any repair is more than likely going to exceed the cost to replace it, One of the internal components has failed and generally unless you are handy with an oscilloscope it's not worth fixing.

Try unplugging the the TV from the power outlet for 30 seconds to a minute and plug back in again. Try to turn on again. Some TV's have to be in a "ready mode" to operate by remote - so besure it is in that mode - or use the power button on the TV.

Good luck!
