Question about Computers & Internet

My OfficeSuite 2009 disk does not work.

I insert the disk and the light comes on. I type in "D:LAUNCH.EXE" as instructed. It seems to run and then says "Insert Disk in Drive D." I re-insert it and it does it all over again. HELP!!

Tried those, came up with Error Code 2869 what ever that is, and installation quit and reversed. Still can't get Office Suite 2009 to install.

Open the icon "My Computer" and look at the drives. Is your CD listed as drive D? If not, type in the drive letter listed with a colon and launch.exe

If officesuit is a microsoft product go to their website and download instalation software based upon the windows version that you have.

Best resolution is to open your 'My Computer' icon and find out what is the name (C: / D: / E:) of your CD/DVD Drive in which you inserted the disk. Then change the command accordingly, replace the D: with the appropriate drive letter. The command should have a "\" after the drive letter (Ex - E:\launch.exe)

Lemme know if this worked for you!

Football manager 2009 xml parsing error

If you have a shortcut on your desktop you can do the following:
  • Right-click on the FM shortcut.
  • Choose "Properties" from the pop-up menu.
  • In the "Target" field, add the --reset_preferences command line option after "fm.exe", so it should look like this:
    "C:\Program Files\Sports Interactive\Football Manager 2009\fm.exe" --reset_preferences
  • Press OK and then try to run the game as normal, using the shortcut.

You'll want to remove the command after you run the game, as otherwise it will continue to reset your preferences every time you launch.

If you don't have a shortcut you can make one and then perform the instructions on the shortcut you've made.

I am trying to load on D;/setupexe but it will not install.

I'm presuming this is an optical disk (CD or DVD) containing (printer?) software you wish to install ... right?

If so, are you trying to launch the "setup.exe" file from a cmd/Command Prompt shell by typing it in, then "enter"? If so, the most glaring problem is typographical error ... "D;/setupexe" > should be "D:setup.exe"

If not the above, does any installer dialog (i.e., window) display soon after inserting the disk into the drive? If the disk does indeed contain a software installation package with a "setup.exe" file, then this likely indicates "autoplay" is deactivated for that particular drive. If this is the case, it can be corrected by right-clicking the subject drive icon and modifying the settings on the "Autoplay" tab. Or alternatively accomplshed using "TweakUI". It's available at http://www.softpedia.com/get/Tweak/System-Tweak/TweakUI.shtml. However, get this handy and dandy Microsft utility regardless of this situation if you don't already have it.

This leaves the last scenario: Are you maually trying to launch the file by clicking on it? If so, what error dialog(s) are you encountering and what EXACTLY does it say?

TIP: A very rudimentary way to test the readability of a CD/DVD disk is to insert it into a drive, then launch "Command Prompt" and type in "DIR /S DRIVE_LETTER:" (without quotes), then hit enter. EXAMPLE: DIR /S D:
If it successfully displays every file on the disk (implies it's read), it's a fair indication of A-OK readable status.

That's the best shot in the dark I can make with the limited amount of info provided in the question. Please respond with additional info/feedback in order to help zero in on defining the problem.

Install Xp From Dos

If XP will not install from the CD or if you have a new drive with no operating system onit yet try these:

Install Windows XP from the hard drive with Windows 98 already installed:

Boot Windows 98
Insert the XP CD into your CD reader
Explore Windows XP through My Computer
Copy i386 folder to C:\
Go into C:\i386 folder and double click on winnt32.exe to launch the setup from the hard drive

Install Windows XP from DOS (ie. no OS on a new hard drive):

Boot with a Windows 98 Start Up disk
Insert the Windows 98 CD into the CD reader
Run smartdrv.exe from the Win98 directory on the windows 98 CD (file caching)
Type cd.. to back up to the root directory
Insert Windows XP CD into the CD reader
Copy the i386 folder to C:\
Go into C:\i386 folder on C: and type winnt.exe to launch the setup from the hard drive.

Antivirus 2009

I see these every day, note: also fixes AV 2008 and many others.

This Malware is known as "Rogue anti-virus" software.

This program will remove it: http://www.majorgeeks.com/downloadget.php?id=5360&file=10&evp=2e0d43eb67e1e71c0b31e62c003599c0
the website that has it also has a really good antispyware program called malwarebytes

www.malwarebytes.org

once you run a full scan in this program run this program:
http://www.superantispyware.com/downloadfile.html?productid=SUPERANTISPYWAREFREE
it's another free antispyware. these are both professional grade removal software for free. I remove this stuff about 3 times a day. It seems this outbreak is the largest I've ever seen.

If you want a good protection suite that will keep it out buy a copy of NOD32 (www.nod32-av.com) another you may not have heard of, it will block this and many others before it even gets on your computer.
