Question about Audio Players & Recorders

Open Question

I have headphones that say Jensen Digital Audio on the sides and the material covering the cushions is coming off. I do not have a model number but I need to know about ordering replacement cushions. The ones on my headphones have screws under the inside edge of the pads.

Headphone covers how do you get them back on

Some headphone cushions are caught under the plate. If this is the case (and I'm not saying it is) then removal of the plate is required. Under the black foam you might find screws. You might have to peal the foam off (you can glue it back with white Bostick glue afterwards). Unscrew them and you should be able to wrap the cushion round it.
However sometimes the cushion is not fitted like that and in which case all you can do is struggle with it. It sometimes helps to turn back the lip of the cushion all the way around. So you can slide it back into place on all fronts.

Headset earpiece assembly has become detached from headband assembly. The post does not want to go back into the hole on the earpiece assembly bracket. What do I do?

The headband post can only be inserted into the earpiece when the earpiece has been sufficiently rotated. (Note that the hole and post are a 'D' shape, not round.) The installed ear cushion is preventing you from rotating the earpiece sufficiently.

Remove the ear cushion from the earpiece by carefully pulling it off so you do not damage the clips that hold it on or the gasket material between the cushion and the earpiece. There are six clips, three on each side.

Now you can rotate the earpiece into the position where the headband post can be inserted into the earpiece.

Carefully reinstall the ear cushion by pressing it onto the plastic clips. Note that it can only be installed one way with the internal plastic support towards the headband.

How to replace ear cushion on bose QC 3 headphone

The ear cushions are held on the earcup with six snap fasteners, three on each side. To remove the ear cushion, simply pull it away from the earcup carefully so that you do not break the plastic snap tabs.

It should not be necessary to pry the ear cushion off with a sharp object, but if you do, be careful. There is also a thin gasket seal between the earcup and the ear cushion, take care not to damage it.

If you need to replace the ear cushions with new ones, they are available from Bose for $35/pair.

Can I replace the ear cushions on a Sony MDR-V200 headset?

Hey--it was reassuring to see that I'm not the only one with this question. Lots of places (Staples, Radio Shack) have the right size replacements, but it takes a little more digging to be sure you can find something more than what looks like doughnut-shaped packing material. B&H Photo Audio does, and here's a link: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/582208-REG/Pearstone_8091000_Replacement_Earpads_Pair.html

The pads are teaard and Yellow Sponge of the pads came out,

Based on what you are saying, those are the signs of old age, unless the dog got them..

Short term solution is to put the foam back in as best u can, and either glue or duct tape the covering back in place.

If you use the duct tape, be sure to not to cover the area where the sound comes from when you repair them.

The duct tape will not affect the comfort factor if applied smoothly and wrinkle free,

Long term solution is to replace the ones you have.

Check around for pricing.

If your sound equipment is fairly new, wireless headphones are an option.

Happy listening.

Sound from only one headphone

I purchased an AW 771 set in "as is" condition which on arrival produced output only from one side. Repair was effected by removing 8 phillips screws, 4 from each side, concealed under the ear-surrounding doughtnut-shaped cushions. To expose those screws, the ear cushions must be pushed from their center toward the outside. Black screws in back holes surrounded by black acoustically-transparent cloth does not make them obvious.

I used a volt-ohm meter to find a discontinuity at a failed solder connection. Resoldered that connection, rechecked electrical continuity to be certain all connections were good. Tested with batteries installed using an audio input. Both sides produced sound. Replaced screws and they have performed very well since then.

I hope this Model AW771 experience is helpful in restoring your AW-721 to working order.
