Re: no picture

If possible, verify that the DVD player has a good output on a separate TV. If the DVD is still bad, check the output setting on the DVD player to ensure you're not set to progressive scan. If it is in fact the TV, try a different input. If it is still bad you have a video processing issue that may require a repair facility.

Flashing red light off and on button sound but no picture

If your TV has sound but no picture, start by making sure that all of the set-top box cables and cords are connected and the set-top box is turned on. Also check to see that the TV is set on the correct channel and that the DVD player is not on.

If the power light is flashing, it could be excessive or shorted voltage or that the capacitors are malfunctioning. In this case, replacement capacitors or a new power board is in order. Contact a professional for help.

If you hear a chirping sound, that is the shutdown circuit activating, indicating a problem with the power supply.

Sony Trinitron screen flashing

The picture tube is starting to fail. The increased screen voltage allows it to stabilize at the expense of color quality. Sorry to say, but it is time for a replacement.

Picture goes on and on constantly

I have the same problem. Picture cuts out completely then back on. When I first turn it on, it does this constantly for about 15-20 mins, then about once every 30 mins or so. The sound is fine, but the picture just flashes on and off.

The color is also starting to shift a lot and cannot be fixed by adjusting COLOR-BRIGHTNESS-PICTURE in the video control menu system. Nothing seems to correct this. I've even unplugged the TV over night to see if it needed some sort of reset. Model = KV-20FV12. Purchased in 2004

My connection is a direct cable connection - Comcast cable. Same problem persist while showing a DVD as well.

Sony 35inch Trinitron Color TV

Try hooking up a vcr or dvd player that you know works. The TV "thinks" it's not getting a signal. Be sure the TV's on ch #3 or #4, depending on the output channel for the vcr. If you see/hear the tape on TV you know the TV's ok and the problem's in reception, maybe a loose connection.

TV picture flickers

If your DVD player is separate from your tv, you might have a loose cable plug or connection. Depending on the type of flicker you have, a vertical circuit loose connection would cause this. If you could connect it to a cable or antenna it might tell you where the problem is located. A faulty circuit in the DVD might cause this too. Stargazer
