Another RX 3715 came to me, another problem. This one staid in a cold environment over the night and next day it begun to manifest the problem. It woun't allow the user to properly allign the screen, it will respond to taps with a certain delay but it woun't pass the "allign screen" setup. I managed to check up the display and it's ok, both digitalizer and connector, I have made a swich to another RX3715 and the problem is still there. Does anyone know what component could cause the problem. A full firmware reflash didn't do the job for this pda.
Is there any other method to diagnosticate the motherboard, like running a console program like MTTY to acces the primary memory controller (firmware) in order to make a diagnostic of the motherboard?
This problem and the solutions could help other users who have HP HX and RX series PDA's as most QVGA models use the same memory and display controllers.

If I understand correctly your problem, the touch screen of your PDA is not working.
Well, this is a common IPAQ failure. When happens, the only options to repair it are:
1. Soft reset of the PDA. If still does not work, then go to next step.
2. Replace the top digitizer glass.
It requires a very skillful person to do it. If you have not experience with fixing electronic devices, then I do suggest you to send it to repair.
Besides that is necessary to open it, you will require a soldering iron, and desolder the digitizer part and remove it from the LCD screen, which if is not done properly with the right tools, it's easy to damage the LCD screen assembly.
Also, if it's not opened right, is possible to damage permanently the mainboard if is bent or warped.
Also, even though there are a lot of cheap digitizer replacement parts on-line (mainly from China), they have a compatibility issue that prevents to use them in the RX3715 (or RX3115) PDAs.
I have nothing against Chinese manufactured parts, but after buy around 10 digitizers in the last couple of years for different Ipaq PDAs, I found out that only 3 worked fine, so I know what I am talking about.
The dreaded "allign screen problem" strikes again. This is a known bug of these rx ipaqs. You should simply try to see if the ipaq passes this stage if you try to allign the screen a few times. If not, try a firmware update/rom update (from the hp site) If this woun't work then the problem is located on the motherboard,where a small chip called the touchscreen I/O controller has failed. This isn't fixable by replacing the screen, only the whole motherboard. Unfortunately most of the first generation rx 3715 units (first revisions) carried this problem just waiting to happen.

Its possible (but not likely) that when you took it into a warm room condensation built up inside it. Try removing the battery, memory cards and letting it sit in a warm, dry environment for a few days and try again.
If nothing changes I suspect that a component has failed, but -6F is still within the operational range of commercial electronics.
