Default input when turning on the TV

When turning on the TV, the default is set to Input 6: HDMI. However, I would like it to go directly to Input 2: Cable, when I turn on the TV. I was not able to find this setting on the menu. Can you please help? Thanks in advance.

Thanks for the quick response but this did not work. I tried it, turned off the TV, turned on the TV, and it still went to the HDMI input with nothing connected to it. Any other suggestions?

Have brought second hand Hitachi tv which just comes up that it has no signal. To retune i need a 4 digit code,is there any way i can by pass the code or put in something that the Tv will accept.

Hi Annette.

I'm not sure what level you're needing a code for. If you're looking for unversal remote codes to try to pair a remote to the TV, a listing can be found here
4 digit codes for TV sets including LCD Plasma and Panel TVs GE universal...

I'm not finding anything else about Hitachi TVs and a 4 digit code.

Is this 'no signal' coming in off of a cable, or off of broadcast TV? You may also want to check if there are multiple inputs and you're on a not-plugged-in input. For instance, the TV may have 3 HDMI inputs and a set of component video inputs. If, say, your cable box is connected to HDMI 2 and your DVR is plugged into HDMI 3, then if the system defaults to HDMI 1 when it turns on, perhaps it's showing some error code. You should have some sort of input select function. Try cycling through your inputs to make sure that the set is OK playing from other canned input like a DVD player. If so, then move that input through the imput ports to make sure they work.
If the TV has a direct cable coaxial hook-up, most, if not all cable companies anymore only broadcast in encrypted digital, meaning you'll need a cable box or something like a TiVo with a special cable card to see anything.

More specifics would need the make / model / year of the set.
Hoping this helps!

Where is the HDMI connection on my Sharp LC-46SB57? I installed X1 and cannot get picture. Sharp Input 1,2&3 are grayed out but Inputs 5Roku & 6blue ray work.

The X1 box acts like a set-top cable box. The HDMI output can be connected to any HDMI connector. There are three HDMI connections on the rear of the set. You have the Blu-Ray connected to one of them, Input 6. You should have no issues with connecting the X1 to either Input 7 or Input 8. There is no specific "TV" HDMI connection. You simply use the remote to select the HDMI port that the X1 is connected to.

Picture flashes 5 or 6 times when changing channels on LG 4k. Using 2.0 HDMI cable from Fios set top box to Integra 60.5 pre/pro and out to TV. Works fine if I bypass processor and go direct to TV

Hi,
Try to check with any other HDMI input of the Integra to input the set top box. Even if facing the same problem then you have to check both the the HDMI cable. Better replace it. Always remember that do not plug or remove the HDMI cable when the system are ON. Yo have to turn off before making any connection.

It will not automatic default to hdmi when powered on, and the only thing connected is the hdmi, but i must select it how do i default the tv to hdmi

There is a button on your remote control to change the input method. You press the button to change it. Examples of input choices are AUX, Antenna 1 & 2, cable, tv, hdmi. Keep pressing the input button until you see a picture or find the HDMI choice. That should solve your problem.

How do I connect my PS3 to my sanyo dp50747 in hdmi? I have everything hooked up correctly, but its not coming up on the TV. What do I do?????

If you see a no signal message, then it means that the signal output format of the PS3 does not match . It happens if you have previous used it on another tv and now connected it to a different tv. To resolve this, turn off the PS3 . Press and hold the power button on the PS3 till you hear three BEEPS. The PS3 should automatically detect the tv's resolution and the initial setup screen should appear. After that you should just follow on-screen instructions to set it up.

CABLE BOX HDDVR IT's NOT WORKING WITH HDM1 in put. I have to use av1 source with 3 wire cable. Comcast tech saying it is tv problem.

Hello,
I am not with Comcast, but rather a much smaller family owned cable company.
You can check the user settings of the box to verify it is in the HDMI mode. Depending on what type of HDDVR you have that is.

For Motorola 62XX and 64XX models follow these steps to check.

1. make sure that your HDMI cable is connected to both the TV and the cable box.
2. Turn TV on, and verify it is on the proper input.
3. Turn cable box off.
4. Press menu button on remote or front of cable box.
5. A user settings menu will appear on the screen.
Note: if it did not appear you may have to connect another type of cables to continue.
6. Information displayed should be set to what your TV set is capable of. Most HDTV's will be set to the following:
16:9
1080i
480i
7. If you see additional HDMI settings as the forth item your TV and cable box are communicating across it, if not try unplugging both the TV and cable box and/or replacing the HDMI cable. Enter the additional settings by pressing the right arrow on the remote.
8. Change DVI to HDMI.
9. Press power to exit the user settings menu.
10. Turn cable box on, and switch TV to HDMI input if not already on it and see if the picture is coming in now.

Note: if you think that you messed up in the user settings you can always restore default settings by following steps 1 through 4 then press up arrow once and right arrow once.

I hope this helps you cable customers, as we appreciate your business unlike Dish and Direct!

Cheers!
