Question about Sharp Aquos 65" LC-65D64U LCD TV
The rectangle that will not display is sometimes white while the rest of the screen works fine. It is 1/4 of the screen and it displays some lines and changes colors when the tv is turned on and off. It can be black and display nothing, or it will be white. Sound works fine, no issues with that. However, I am looking for the component that is the culprit to my problem. Thanks
Check the connections of the flat cables that connects the T'Con board to LCD pane for any loose contact. Re-seat them. Visit the site named 'Electro-help' for
more details. Click this link. View it in
"Timeslide" or "Flipcard" option, which can be selected
from the drop down box menu by the [Sidebar] tag, at the top left corner
of the display window. You can also
click the [Home] tab to see the latest updates. It will make search
easy. There are more than 1350 posts to different brand TVs now. Pull up older
posts there or make a search by type in the brand name of the device in
the "Search Box", at the top right of the display window.

SOURCE: Sharp Aquos LC 37D6U
Please be aware that this a big problem on this unit. The insulator material used by sharp to between the IC's on the AV board both on top of the boards and underneath the the AV pcb is failing. This insulator is mounted to the IC and under the metal heat sinc. Remove the back and pull the AV Board out of the unit. Use zylene or alcohol and clean all of the grey insulator from between the pins on the ic and order the replacement insulators from Sharp. Most times this will correct the no sound problem. Sometimes this has also damaged the AV pcb and it will have to be replaced. The parts that should be replaced come in a kit with sharp part # PSPKIT663WHZZ. If the kit is not available the 2 parts needed are PSPAZA663WJKZ AND PRDARA216WJFW.

SOURCE: Loss Sync
According to SharpUSA the problem with the "Loss of Sync" error message is that (most probably) the cables (between the box and the display) are not connected properly (so remove and reconnect them carefully, on both units) or a cable is defective.
Also, after you reconnect the cables try turning on the unit, if no success then depress the "clear" button on the external box (under the door on the front and on the bottom left and try turning on the TV again).
It is, most likely, that the cables are not seated properly. Reseat the cables on both the display and the external box.
Hopefully, this will clear the problem if still does not solves your problem just replace all the cables connected between .u can get the new cables at radioshack web site.just place an order they will provide you. thanks.

i was having these same problems with the screen going black, and i found that when i hit the back of my tv it would work sometimes. so, i improvised on some of the advice on this page and so far no problems. here is what i did (its very easy):
1. lay the tv on the floor and take off the back panel. (i think 12 screws)
2. on the right side of the tv (as you are looking at the back) you will notice a large metal covering that is held in place by 6 screws. unscrew these and remove the metal cover.
3. you will notice that the three screw holes on the left side of the board have some sort of metal or solder around them, in sort of a star pattern. when i looked closely i noticed that most of the metal (solder) was tarnished, or kind of blackened. (this must mean that the ground screws werent getting a good connection and this would explain why it would work sometimes when i hit it because it would vibrate the screws enough to get a good connection! )
so, take a pencil eraser and erase all the black or tarnish off the metal surrounding the screw holes. thats it! (to be safe i took some sandpaper and cleaned up the screw holes on the back of the metal covering, but i dont know if that was necessary)
at this point i followed another gentleman's advice to do a hard reset. this involved unplugging the 8 connections although i dont know if this was really necessary because i believe my problem was a ground issue. i did it just to be safe. his advice is on this site if you want to do this step.
4. i put everything back together and it worked! i performed a soft reset at this point which puts your tv back to factory settings. just go to menu>setup>reset>return to factory settings? yes
this will turn your tv off and back on. that's it. so far so good for me.

The Sharp TV model LC32D40U / 41U "Black Screen problem" is a very well known issue. The inverter is losing ground contact which will prevent the back-light from staying on. The solution is to re-tighten six screws on the inverter board. You also would want to clean the copper contacts on then bottom of the inverter where the screws go through. Access to the inverter board will require some disassembly. Plan on taking at least three hours to repair. See the photo for the location of the screws. Use some "blue" locktight" on these six screws. There is actually a Sharp Technical Service Bulletin that describes these screws. Sharp wants you to replace these screws with a newer version. They cost at least $2.50 each! I think my method will work just as good using the "Locktight"
