  1. Restart the computer
  2. Make sure the mouse and receiver are not to close together sometimes it interferes with the signal
  3. Make sure that the receiver and mouse are using the same channel
  4. Press the connect button on the receiver to restart it that way
  5. Check to make sure you have the latest driver
  6. If none of these work you may need to replace your mouse

You most likely need to replace the mouse as the batteries are getting hot and the mouse will not work. Wish you the best of luck.

If the mouse is wireless , then you need to do synchronization again.

If mouse is wired one, then you have a broken mouse, maybe the cable, as an usb mouse turns the light on when you connect to USB, even if software is not installed.

Verify also that usb is working.

First off the USB port would not affect the actual physical mouses power problem. Unless it wasn't wireless but this one is. The only thing I can come up with is the battery is in backwards. As silly as it sounds. A battery will short circuit and over heat if put in backwards. Let me know if this helped.

Now you will have to go through all the steps you did before. Reinstall driver/software, link again by pushing link buttons on both units, etc. Hope this helps. Thanx for the rating!

Hi,

suggest you try another set of batterys and if the mouse still doesn't work and the batterys get hot, there is something wrong with the mouse, I can't say exactly what is wrong, you may have a faulty mouse and it would be best to replace it as they don't cost much.

It was too obvious I overlooked it, I know you wont get my message anymore but, you need to reconnect the mouse to the computer and pair it with the station with the connect buttons.

Microsoft Notebook optical mouse 3000 not working

Have you tried changing the port in which the USB wireless receiver is plugged?

Or is the receiver internal to the notebook?

If the receiver is internal, try updating the drivers for your machine by navigating to the manufacturer's support site.

If you plug a wired mouse into the machine what happens? If you get the same result, it may indicate a problem with the USB settings on your machine. I would, again, suggest updating the drivers for your machine.

If that's the case, try plugging another USB device into the machine and see if it works properly.

If none of those options provide results, I recommend you return the mouse for a refund or a replacement, especially if you have the receipt.

I hope I was able to help you. Good luck!

My microsoft model no 3000 wireless notebook is not working.

I suggest to put a new battery in it's compartment and simultaneously to press down and release the small button that protrudes where the receiver is placed at the bottom of mouse. Prior to this procedure the receiver has to be installed in the USB port. Both actions are to be performed at the same time. Cursor will start moving again.
Good luck!!!

Do you have another device to test the batteries in to be sure they are good? Also verify the batteries are inserted properly - if so, it appears the mouse has just quit working.
