Question about ASUS P4S533-MX Motherboard

1 Answer

"MOV" Moving Images jerky when played back

Our son has just had his Mesh Elite 2.6 Desktop P.C. reformated and Windows XP-Pro reinstalled. However, when video clips - recorded on a Sony DSC compact camera are played via I-Tunes, the movement isn't at all smooth. The P.C. is based on an Asus P4 S533 MX motherboard. Could the problem be to do with incorrect drivers for the AGP 4X on-board video interface ? If so - do you know what drivers he should have installed and where I can find them (preferably for free !) Any help / advice would be very much appreciated. Thankyou.

Hi David,
The Asus MB can use either the “onboard”, (Built into the MB) - VGA 3D controller, SiS 651 chipset. Or the AGP 4x slot. If you are referring to the AGP 4x slot, I'll need to know the model & manufacture of the AGP 4x card. (Windows XP is better served to provide you an update (If any), through windows update service.
As to weather iTunes is causing the *.mov video file to playback un-smooth, suggest you open with windows media player. See if windows plays the file any better. (If not I'd say the problem is with the file & not the player). (Just the way it was recorded).
If you haven't installed all of windows XP updates, suggest you do so. This will include windows media player 11. When updating windows XP look to the left of the site. There you'll see "Hardware & software updates".
Windows update service is not dumb, once you click on "Express", windows should show you any updates you may need for other devices connected to your PC. Including your 4x AGP card.
(I doubt your AGP card is causing the problem). Did or does the Sony camera play-back the *.mov file smoothly?

I have no video output after reformating my hard drive. but the computer goes through its boot sequence.

Reformatting your hard drive means erasing your operating system.(OS). Therefore, you have to reinstall
your operating system (Windows XP, Windows 7)
After you reinstall your OS, you must also reinstall the
software driver for sounds, and video. All software drivers
must be compatible with your OS.

Try to reset your BIOS by removing the button cell located at your motherboard and put it back. Check the SATA connector of your hard drive and make sure it fits right. Boot the machine and set-up to "boot from CR-ROM". And install new WINDOWS XP.

Intel d865perl sound card drivers

Hi,
left click this link & choose you're operating system for the Intel D865PERL motherboard drivers. (Reinstall the driver software).
http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Product_Filter.aspx?ProductID=949&lang=eng
For windows XP/home & pro. Click on this link;

After reinstalling the software & you're sound does not seem better than the built in sound chip may be going bad.
Other factors can also cause the effects you are having. Run windows system defrag. Also run windows Disk cleanup. These tools are found in windows System tools. Lastly you can buy & add a PCI sound card into an emty PCI slot to bypass the built in sound card. If you choose to do this you will need to enter the bios & disable the built in sound device.

Good Luck!
