Question about HP Computers & Internet
He is running XP SP3, I suspect that the Admin password might have been changed, but I don't know for certain. He told me that he didn't backup his hdd. Is there any way to do a backup at this point? Please tell me that there is, I don't want to lose any of his data. Thanks to all.
I suggest that you try going to safe mode. When the computer starts keep tapping F8 and select safe mode. The software of the computer will go basic and the computer should complete the boot up process if there are no serious errors inside it. If you can get in safe mode, then you can back up the files or you can do a system restore which will let you get the computer back to a known good state.
I hope this helps.

a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

Hi common problem, assuming you have already tried safe mode (tapping f8 during startup) and are not able to get into system restore, it looks like you have to rebuild using fixboot and fixmbr
good luck HPC

You're computer is booting that's not your problem. Its just not booting into Windows which is a different subject, so a boot disk will not do you any good. You have some corrupted files at the Windows end not the start up end. The only way to correct the Windows corrupt files is to use a Windows disc. So you'll have to buy/borrow a portable DVD/CD player and a copy of windows. Once the Windows disc loads then its just a matter of clicking on "repair" when the disc asks..that one of the drawbacks of netbooks..If you have any questions let me know..
