Question about Husqvarna Viking 1
I just inherited this machine. The cam in the back does not work (it falls right out). All I need it to do is a basic straight stitch (which it's doing a lovely job on) and a zigzag stitch. The dial where it looks like I can set it to zigzag just makes it go in reverse. I'm very familar with Singers, this is my first Viking I've ever worked with.
a 6ya Repairman can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repair professionals here in the US.

As I wrote earlier, I also needed one. I purchased one today from The Stitching Post. Located at 101 E. Alex Bell Rd. Suite 176 Dayton,Ohio 45459 937-436-9200. I was told 170.00 but when I got there they were $64.00 and I got half off so, with tax it was $34.24!!! Maybe you could call and have them mail you one with the use of a credit card. They are used but they no longer make these. Hope this helps.

Assuming you now have the manual. Your local authorized Husqvarna Viking dealer can order a user manual from Husqvarna Viking. A list of authorized dealers is available at the Husqvarna Viking website - http://www.husqvarnaviking.com/us

SOURCE: repair and opertors manuals?
The cheapest manual I have found for the model 6440 is at http://gotoes.org/sales/VikingSewingMachineManuals/ViewInfo.pl?Viking=1&Sewing_Machine_Model=6440
It is a downloadable version also sent by email.
There is a free threading diagram including bobbin info at www.sewusa.com. Repair manuals are available on ebay and run ten dollars or more.

I hate to say it, but the 6690 was plagued with circuit board problems. That machine cost Viking a lot of heartache. I'm a bit surprised to see one still working. You didn't specify exactly what you did when cleaning or whether you took the covers off and disturbed the wiring. Check all the connections and plugs, but it might be dead. You can take it to a Viking dealer with experience with the 6690 for an evaluation.
