The battery connector in the Nexus 7 (2012 model) is notoriously problematic. Sometimes dropping the device can cause issues that prevent the Nexus 7 from charging altogether. A hard reset may not work. Fortunately, it is quite easy to fix.

However this will void your warranty.

Pop the back of the Nexus 7 case open by pushing a credit card or guitar pick or small screwdriver under the edge of the black plastic case. Start from the top and gently pry the case open, working your way around. The back of the case will come off quite easily. The battery occupies the bulk of the left-hand side of the unit, and a group of six wires come out of the top of the battery to a connector on the circuit board. Gently push the plug out of the socket connector, wait 15 seconds, and push it back in. Snap the case back on and plug in your charger. You should now see the battery charge image appear.nexus 7 will not completely turn on - 17d253bb-4ba9-4ee2-99ca-91507603cc78.png

Try hard reset: press and hold at the same time Volume Up + Volume Down + Power until the device powers on. You should see an image of an Android lying on its back.

Nexus 7 tablet flashing white light

    Hello,
I am very familiar with this problem with the 2nd gens and it is almost always a sure sign that the tablet is not getting enough power to charge up and will not boot. Sometimes this can happen from the tablet not getting used for a while and getting completely drained. The other possibilities are A) the USB charging port is becoming worn out and won't charge or B) the battery is no longer holding a charge, much like a car battery in the winter. Get an original Nexus 7 wall charger and leave it charging through the wall outlet and not a computer, this has more power. If the light is blinking, it makes me think the USB is not the issue, so chances are after an hour or two it will have some life again.

Nexus 7 won't turn on after charging

I found that if the Nexus 7 (or 10) is left on until the battery drains completely, then switches itself off, it doesn't switch on normally after a recharge. All you need to do is press the on button for several seconds and it will reboot. If that doesn't work then try a hard reset. Refer to user manual which should be in the file system.

How to put in sim card

Assuming you mean the 2013 version but I'll try both,
    so for the 2013 version
    1. Turn your tablet off and place it on a flat surface with the screen facing up.
    2. Tilt the right side slightly up to find the SIM card tray near the bottom right and the small hole in the tray door.
    3. Insert a paperclip into the hole in the tray door, and push firmly but gently, the tray should pop out.
    4. snp_8a30b60eaed5a3a37f46a8c715167552992e_3271601_en_v0Remove the tray and place the micro SIM card inside it, the angle corner fits with the angled indent
    5. Push the tray it gently back into the tablet.
    6. snp_8a30b60eaed5a3a37f46a8c715167552992e_3271604_en_v0

    Activate SIM card

    1. Open the Settings app snp_2918920_en_v1 and turn off Wi-Fi after completing the set-up instructions. Once Wi-Fi is off, you'll see a notification at the top of your screen.
    2. Swipe down the notification shade and touch the notification.
    3. Follow the activation instructions provided by your carrier.

For the Nexus 7 (2012) 3G use the same process noting that the tray slot and pinhole is on the left side of the device when its facing up.

    *Note* : Only the Nexus 7 (2013) LTE & Nexus 7 (2012) 3G can accept a SIM card. Wi-Fi versions of the tablet can't.

Is this after serveral power-off and power-on attempts?

If so, you may need to reset it to factory defaults by entering "recovery mode".

Google "nexus 7 recovery mode" and follow the options within. All data on your nexus 7 will be lost.

Nexus 7 screen broken and back slightly popped

It sounds like the device is completely broken after dropping it. You may find a local repair shop or a shop online to fix the device, but it may be cheaper to replace it with a new one.

    Hope that helps!
