Reconnecting/routing water lines after replacing inlet valve

Mice chewed thru all our plastic water lines while our whirlpool ED25EU was in storage. I replaced the inlet valve, but I can't figure out exactly how to route the lines.....I believe I have the lines correct from the inlet to & from the filter, & then also from the valve out to the resevoir, but I don't see how the resevoir line coming out of the fridge box gets to the water dispenser....I just dont see a connection anywhere. Any description or diagrams of the line routing would be a great help!

the valve is probably operated by a celenoid, if you removed it during the hose replacement it may be installed incorrectly, out of line or not have a good ground.

Water inlet valve for kenmore refrigerator

Make sure the switch in the door is functioning first. Plastic parts fail to allow the switch to contact the paddle. The inlet valve is where the water line connects to the fridge. You can get replacements at an appliance parts store . There are many online parts stores too.

Ice maker is not getting water to make ice

Hello there,
When your ice maker is not getting water into it, it simply means the water inlet valve is clooged with dirt and have blocked the valve from getting water into the ice maker.
Your icemaker's water inlet valve could be filled with ice. If it is, simply thaw the its water tube with a hair dryer to remove the blockage. Be careful to not melt any plastic parts with the blow dryer. An icemaker's water inlet valve has a filtering screen to block minerals and other debris from entering into your ice cubes. It is possible that the water inlet valve's screen is blocked, and not allowing any water through to make ice. Clean out any built up debris you find. You should be able to pop the screen out of place with a screwdriver and then put it back in place with the screwdriver again once it is cleaned.
Alternatively, the water inlet valve itself may have become defective. You will have to test it. If the test proves the valve is defective, replace it.
Hope this helped. All the best Elect_Comp

Just re-installed frig/freezer after sitting in storage for several years. Icemaker does not fill with water. Is there a float that could be stuck, or air in the line that needs to be bled???

Trace water supply line to where it connects to back of unit and locate the solenoid valve. This is a small electric valve that controls water supply to ice maker. They are usually connected with compression fittings so slightly loosen compression nut on inlet side to see if you have water to that point. If no water there then backtrack water line to source and make sure water line is hooked up and valve is on.
If you have water to inlet side of solenoid valve manually actuate ice maker and listen to hear if valve is opening. IF not then valve will need replaced. If you have water to valve and valve is opening then shut off water supply valve. Renove compression nut and clean inlet screen and put back together. Check to make sure filter is open . Remove line from outlet of solenoid and blow thru it to make sure its open into freezer. Hope this helps you. Thanks

Water doesn't fill in ice tray seems that the line is frozen

Hi and welcome to FixYa, I am Kelly. If the fill tube at the top rear of the unit is full of ice this is usually caused by the inlet water valve pssing water when it is supposed to be shut off. Here is what you can do to check and see if the inlet water vale is bypassing water when it should be closed.
1. On the back of the unit where the small plastic line connects to the fill tube that gouse from the rear of the cabinet to the ice maker remove the small plastic line. Plate the end of the line in a bucket or large pan for 8 to 10 hours with the ice maker OFF.
2. At the end of the period where you have the removed line in the catch basin / pan or bucket, check for water. If there is water in the catch basin the inlet water valve has failed internally either from age or debris on the diaphram seat.

Since you did not provide a model number, I can not pass you a source for replacement parts or EXACT troubleshooting procedures. However here is a manual that will assist you in trouble shooting:$FILE/4322658A.pdf

If your ice maker does not have the optical sensors use this link for ice maker troubleshooting:

Here are 2 links for replacement parts: (model number is required)

Here is one of 2 types if inlet water valve: (example only as no model number to reference)

Thanks for choosing FixYa,

Washer runs but no water

First you should remove the hoses and clean the screens in the ends of the hose, some hoses have screens in both ends. While the hoses are removed look inside the water inlet valve there should be a screen in there also remove and clean the screen out. Some screens will not be removable so you will need to clean in place or remove the water inlet valve. If all is clear you will need to check the solenoids on the water inlet valve for power. If the solenoid has power when put in a fill cycle and no water eneters your washer you will need to replace the water inlet valve. Most water inlet valves must be replaced as a unit, so if one solenoid fails you replace the whole valve assembly. These are inexpensive and easy to replace. There is a video at that will walk you thru the testing procedure. It may be a different model but the testing will be the same. If you need help disassembling there are also videos of disassembling most styles your is a whirlpool style. You can also enter your model # for diagrams and illustrations of your specific model. Not all models will be available

I have a GE model TPX 24BPBA WW and have a water leak on my floor. I disconnected the icemaker water feed and leak stopped. What's wrong

do you live in an area where there are rodents such as mice ? if yes there is a possibility that they have eaten the plastic water line that feeds from the ice maker water valve to the ice maker itself . when they get thirsty you would be surprised what they will actually chew through to get water. regardless the cause, you probably have a broken water line between the ice maker water valve and ice maker unit .

Water goes in very slow. Cleaned the intake filter where the hoses connect.IS the valve worn out to where it does not open all the way?

Check if the volume of water supplied to the washer from the water line through the hoses attached to it is good. If yes, the screen inside the water-inlet valve if it is clean. If clean, the water inlet valve is defective and you need to replace it. The water inlet valve is located inside the washer on the upper back portion. It is where the water supply hoses are attached to.

Water not dispensing in side by side Whirlpool refrigerator

The water inlet valve is located behind your refrigerator. Find the water supply line coming into the valve and turn it off at the source. Disconnect the supply line. Remove the screws that secure the inlet valve in place.

The water inlet valve is connected by two wires. Label the wire placement on the water inlet valve before disconnecting the wires. The wires are connected to the terminals with slip on connectors. Firmly pull the connectors off of the terminals (do not pull on the wire). You may need to use a pair of needle-nose pliers to remove the connectors. Inspect the connectors and the terminals for corrosion. If the connectors are corroded they should be replaced. Inspect the filter screen where the supply line connects. Remove any debris or deposits that may have built up using a toothbrush or warm running water. If you cannot clear the clog, it will be necessary to replace the valve (the filter is not removable on most inlet valves).

Test the water inlet valve for continuity using a multimeter. Set the multimeter to the ohms setting X100 (if available, otherwise use the nearest ohm setting). Place a probe on each terminal. The multimeter should display a reading of 200 to 500 ohms. Close inspection of the inlet valve and especially the coil may reveal the exact ohm resistance rating to test for. If the water inlet valve does not pass this test, it should be replaced.
