Question about Drills
Hi, I have the same problem. Nothing exists as they want you to buy new tools...but I found a way...I bought this battery http://www.canadiantire.ca/AST/browse/6/Tools/PowerToolAccessories/ToolBatteries/PRDOVR~0542779P/Jobmate+14.4V+Battery.jsp?locale=en
I opened it and found that the battery pack is absolutely the same. But the poles are inverted compared to the Mastercraft. I took the battery pack, insert it in the Mastercraft cover. You just have 2 things to do; 1) make a torsion of the battery on top to reverse the polarity. 2) this battery is hard to insert in the tube of the battery pack , so I buffed the interior of the plastic tube a bit with a Dremel and sand paper until it fits easily.(2-3 minutes only) After you just have to screw it again and put it on the charger. The only thing bizarre is that the green light is constantly lit, even if the battery is empty... Anyways, I know that a full charge takes around 1 to 3 hours. And now, I saved my 3 tools from the garbage can.

I have the same problem. The guys at Batterries Plus told me that 7.2 volt battereis are not easily replaced and definately not through them. If you left it charging for to long (ie over a week when you were gone like me) then the battery is never gonna charge again. You might as well find the same model of dril at skil's reconditioned site for around $40 or buy a brand new one for $60 or $70

SOURCE: Mastercraft seized up chuck
being that new, it should not have seized up, all you can do is try spraying wd40 into the chuck between the teeth and mandrill. if it doesnt work, replace the chuck, it is fairly inexpensive
