Question about GE PSS27SGRSS Side by Side Refrigerator
Initially the water/ice dispenser stopped working. Then a few days later the freezer wasn't working. I hit the temperature down button and it seemed to reset itself and then worked. However, a few days later both the freezer and refrigerator had stopped cooling and now the only display that does anything shows a blinking HRS. None of the other temperature buttons work. If you listen closely, you can hear something that sounds like a system that keeps trying to start. The lights come on fine. I had a Sears repairman come out and he said it would be about $500 to fix it and since it is 8 years old he recommended just getting a new one. He said it is a bad main PC Board. Would you agree?
Yes I would agree that you get another refrigerator! The GE PSS27SGRSS is an Artic/Profile model and people have had nothing but complaints about the motherboard problems. I recommend you buy something that has no motherboard or electronic defrost. The best refrigerators out there are ones that have the simple defrost timer and no electronics, Thanks Sea Breeze

There's an ice- or water-dispensing problem The ice and water-dispensing system of your refrigerator is quite complex. Many components work together to provide the ice and water. Aside from a simple problem of a leaky water tube or a jammed ice chute, most other components are not user serviceable. We suggest that you contact a qualified appliance repair technician for such repairs.

Had the same problem. Pressed button heard a click, saw zeroes flash, then nothing. After some online search I found and solved the problem. Corrosion and condensation on the connector plug attached to the wire at the bottom of the freezer door. Remove plastic grill, pull out wire from under box. You'll find a plastic connector and possibly wet or corroded wiring. CUT POWER TO FRIDGE OFF FIRST. I cut away the white plastic connector then stripped and tied the wires together with wire caps. Taped them up too. Note which wire goes to which first. Mine was blue to blue, black to black, and red to white. Problem solved.
