Maybe it's just a plug. Check the specs online to see if it's a port or just a plug covering a hole.

Asus laptop doesn't read the hdmi port

The hdmi port is an output to the high definition video, and the laptop does not read from it. If you mean the output from the laptop does not appear on the HDMI monitor that is plugged into the HDMI port, then go to the monitor and check the input selection menu on the screen. The VGA or composite input may be the default.

T V turns on, can't get the HDMI to appear on the screen for the signal.

HDMI is the High Definition Media Interface PORT on the back of a modern Flat Panel TV or Monitor.
The remote control should allow a selection menu to appear on the screen so you can choose an alternate signal input from another device or set top box.
Perhaps the TV senses that there is no signal on that HDMI cable plugged into the back port, so therefore it won't show it on the screen menu.
Turn on the device attached to the other end of the HDMI cable.

Does it have HDMI port

Look at the manual from the following link, it appears that there is no HDMI port however there is a DVI connection. A DVI to HDMI adapter can be purchased for $4 that should work.

I have a Compaq Presario CQ60-215DX Notebook PC And I'm having trouble opening up the HDMI port How do I open it

If you look on page 8 of this manual, it appears that the HDMI port simply plugs in. It is very much like a USB port except wider. Perhaps you're thinking of a DVI connection for a second monitor?

HDMI output not working

This might not be your specific Laptop it might give an insight into the problem and guide you to installing it

The 15.4 inch display on your Dell Inspiron 1525 laptop computer works well for basic computing, but its 1280 x 800 pixel XGA display can't compare to the image produced by a high-definition television. The Inspiron 1525 features several output ports that allow you to easily connect the computer to your HDTV. This makes it convenient to use video streaming services such as Netflix and Hulu to watch movies on your television.

Connect the HDMI cable to the HDMI port on the left side of the computer, just in front of the RJ-11 modem cable port. Attach the other end of the cable to the HDMI port on your HDTV. The exact location will vary among the various brands and models, but it should be on the rear panel. Select the HDMI option on the television's video source menu. Most televisions have a source button on the remote that makes changing the input source easy. Turn the computer on. Once it boots, open the control panel and select "Appearance and Personalization." Click "Display Settings" followed by "Advanced Settings." Select the "Intel" tab and click the "Graphics Properties" button. Choose the "Intel Dual Display Clone" option and close the windows. What you see on your computer screen will also appear on the television. Right-click on the speaker icon in the bottom-left of the screen and select "Playback devices." Select HDMI in the list of devices and click "Set Default" in the bottom of the window.

I have sapphire ati radeon 5570 graphics card. i have aoc 912sw+ 19 inch lcd monitor. how to connect hdmi port of graphics card with monitor?

the HDMI port is for connecting video and sound to a home theatre / surround sound system. I understand that this monitor only has a VGA connector.

The sapphire ati radeon 5570 graphics card has the following ports on the back to connect to a display: DVI (white), VGA (blue) and DisplayPort (the thin slot in the middle). You can use an ordinary VGA cable to connect the card to your monitor.

Unfortunately you cannot connect this card directly to your monitor using the DisplayPort.

Hope this helps

I cannot stick a hdmi chord in the hdmi port it is blocked and cannot not be open by hand how do I open it

Your computer may not actually have an HDMI port. The spot you are referring to is most likely where to manufacturer puts an HDMI output for higher model laptops.

After installation of ps3 and blue -ray disc remote control. tried using remote to turn on and play a dvd dics to no avail nothing works the ps3 player nor the remote does't appear to recognize each other...

Ive had the same problem with mine. I have a universal remote and a blu ray player separately installed on my tv. The only way i was able to play the ps3 without calling geek squad to reconfigure my tv was to unplug the blu ray and put the ps3 in its spot and push watch bluray. It worked great.

I have a 37" Insignia L37Q tv with 4 HDMI inputs. Only HDMI 1 works properly. If I hook up an HDMI device to any of the other HDMI ports I get one of the following: 1. No signal 2. Not supported 3....

Try plugging hdmi cable into hdmi 1 on your TV, then open the menu on TV and find the place it lets you to make selections on this, such as Satellite or hdmi 1. One of these selections have to work.
does the hdmi port gets detected when you try in other hdmi ports.if not getting detected then it can also be fault in the hdmi ports.because as you said that hdmi port number 1 works.that means wires are proper.but other hdmi ports not working that means the ports are faulty if all the setting are proper in setup.
as the ports are soldered to the unit internally.if the soldering gets loose the connection will not get re-soldering is required to the loose ports.

if you are not familiar with doing this you can get it done by local repair technician familiar with this model .
This will help. Thanks please keep updated.please do rate the solution positively .thank you for using fixya.
