Chevy lumina overheat

engines overheat with no thermostats. Very simply put the water circulation is too fast for the heat to transfer to the air. Water pumps fail from bad bearings and pump seal but for no other reason. So back to basics Refit with a new thermostat put in properly. Have a flow test done on the radiator for blocked cores. have a coolant system pressure test done for leaks and cap failure.. have a compression test done to check for head gasket or cracks.. Check for correct ignition timing and air/ fuel ratio mixture. Run fault codes . when refilling with coolant ensure that all air locks are removed

Water not staying in radiator no sign of leaks in my 2000 bmw

does the car seem to run roughly? sounds like a possible head gasket or a cracked cylinder. is there an unusual amount of moisture coming out of the exhaust pipe, would smell like antifreeze gaseous sweet smell. a crack will fill either the top of a given cylinder but only when the engine is not running. head gasket will dump water into the oil giving it a milky look also will be prone to overheating

1995 mazda millenia s 2.3 it overheats it has new water pump and timing belt and when i put antifreeze in the tank it wont go into the engine please help

Have you tried filling at the motor, header tank or radiator. You may need a new cap or you could have grass or something block the airflow at the front of the radiator, possible head gasket, does it run rough when first started then clear up?

Have a 2003 jeep liberty, 3.7L 6 cyl, had a misfire on spark plug #2 , replaced it, no codes appear, says passed. But still seem to sense a misfire, runs like there is a misfire, and when first starting...

Hello, sounds like you should get a compression test for the bank with number 2 cylinder. I am going by your statement about the Antifreeze smell. You could also do a fuel quality check and replace the fuel filter while doing this. Put the fuel in a glass jar and wait a day if necessary to see if the fuel separates. Bad fuel would also account for a rough idle and the smell.

The newer fuels we have today can separate and also attract water from the atmosphere. The Evap may have been a sign that the system was open to the atmosphere. Before doing major motor work, you may want to "smoke test" the Evap system. This requires a special machine some shops have.

I am curious to the condition of the old number 2 plug and if it looked corroded from the antifreeze. An alternative would be to remove the sparkplugs and crank the engine when it is cold from sitting overnight. Then observe if antifreeze or water was blown out the sparkplug holes.

I hope my solution is very helpful to you.

Low oil pressure readout and engine runs rough it is a 740 IL 1995 I dont know what models below are 740 IL

Hi it could just be the oil pressure switch get that checked first.

Is the car putting out any smoke? if so then it may be the head gasket starting to go, leaking oil into the pots. give it a hard rev and check, also the valve stem oil seals could be going. this would cause the engine to run rough if the spark plugs are getting oil on them. remove each plug and check for deposits of oil or very dark carbon

there is a few possibilities but your better checking these first.

Have you checked your oil to see if there is antifreeze/water in the oil?  With the fact that it is running rough makes me think that you might have a head gasket leak and your coolant is running into your oil (and this would explain why you can't find a leak).  I would start with checking the oil to see if water is beading up in it.  Hope this helps and let me know if you have other questions.  Thanks for an honest rating and for using FixYa.
