First, all the recorders dont have amplification!!
this means if u connect a speaker to a recorder:
1: the recorder dont have out for the speaker
2: if u fix the cable to connect the recorder t a speaker, the speaker wont sound, couse the power out of and RCA out is too low.

so if u want to use a recorder, u need an amplifier to do this.

What would cause my speakers to just quit. I had them running through my receiver.

there could be a problem with the audio inputs on your receiver but just in case try switchin the speacker wire if that dose not work then try switching the input cables from the aux in to the tape or cd input jax if that dont work then the problem is in your curciut board and is probly ruined what can cause this problem is there are to many speackers hooked up and the receiver got to hot or the positive wire and the negative wire brobly gat crossed some where and shorted out your receiver input jax try the solutions i recamended and hope for the best i hope it works for you good luck

I am haveing problems hooking up my stero none of the speackers are working i hook every one of them up and still no sound

Did this unit suffer through a lightening/thunder storm of late? It would appear that your left and right stereo amps are burned out.

The son froom my speackers stop

my best guess on this one is probably not the speakers but the sound system or device sending the signal to the speakers or the wiring to the speakers is shot if you are sure that all of this is fine then the problem is the speakers do not have enough power to play and it might be the psu that is shot.

Is it worth it

the reciever you have is a dolby prolodgic system. the rear channel is monoral, that is that both rear speackers have the same infomation to it (and not much of it). the new suround sound systems are dolby digital/DTS suround sound. there is a major differance to the sound and the information presented. all channels are discreat and information provided by you digital outputs of your equipment provide the channel info (tv via optical digital out, DVD also optial or coaxal digital out, cable box also optical.)

Hello 6423,

The RX-664VBK is capable of having 6 speakers connected to it, 2-front, 1-center, 2-surround and 1-powered subwoofer.
Hope this helps.
