Question about 1995-1997 Chevy 1500 Truck Ignition Starter Alarm Switch
Is fine sometimes but other times slows down and front brakes are engaged
Sounds like it is possible the some one added the wrong type of fluid to the master cylinder. Check the rubber gasket on the master cyl if it is swollen you have a problem.. If it is soft and swollen, then the rubber cups in the master cyl are also swollen and will need to be replaced

SOURCE: chevy starter ignition
This isn't a solution but it should help. Pull the column off and see what color the wires are that go to the ignition switch. Next look under the dash and find the connector that has these wires. Start the truck, reach under the dash and pull the connector apart and see if it dies. If it doesn't then consider the ECM relay is sticking. If it dies when you pull the connector apart, then your ignition switch could be back and is shorting the constant hot to the ignition out allowing the truck to keep running. You can also try pulling the ECM relay when its running and see if it dies. If it does then switch it with another relay, like the headlights if they use the same style relay and turn the headlights on then off and see if they stay on, alone with starting the truck and running it for a period of time then shutting it off and see if it dies or not. Post a comment and let me know if either of these has an effect.
