Question about HP Color LaserJet 8550 Printer
I was in the middle of printing a run or 350 11x17 Black and white prints on 24Lb bond when halfway through the output went from rich black to a ghost of gray. Have tried printing all different types of paper, new toner, new drum, new transfer drum, new fuser. always the same. Please help me out if any one has an idea. Thanks, Ty

Press Menu button. Then press the <Left> scroll button and <Cancel> button simultaneously. This will take you to the secondory service menu. Press the menu button and select secondary service. Scroll through the menu item and you will see <Clean belt> option. Select it and press select again. This will clean the belt for you. Do it may be two or three times. This will solve your problem.

It sounds like you downloaded the PCL Universal Driver. Try the full solution driver or the PostScript Universal Driver. Both allow color prints.
