Question about Hoover S2220 Flair Bagless Upright Vacuum
There's two settings to my vacuum cleaner (hoover S2220 flair bagless) but only the 'floor' setting seems to be working, and i can't get the carpet setting to work. the vacuum did smell of smoke, so i took it apart and cleaned the nozzle, belt, etc (i think the smell came from hair and other things stuck on the brush because i wasn't even able to manually rotate the brush). however, even after i cleaned out the debris, carpet setting was still not working. is the brush supposed to rotate while the vacuum is on? because it definitely wasn't rotating on its own when i turned it on...and the vacuum suction power is definitely not as good as it was before....
There is a belt in the nozzle that is driven by a small motor in turn will drive the roller when set to carpet. did you completely dis-assemble the nozzle? ie, to remove the roller and clean the endcaps? this would also show the belt. The gear on the motor wears very easily and could also be worn. I would change the nozzle or get a new Flair. new nozzles cost about $25-$30.
