HP w2338h monitor will not come on. When I turn the screen on it just says monitor going to sleep. What's the problem and can it be fixed?

This means that the monitor is not getting a signal from the video card. First, is your computer on?

Next, are you using the VGA or the HDMI port on the monitor? If your computer has multiple video ports, you need to make sure that your cable is connected to an active video port. If the computer has an add-on video graphics card and the on-the-motherboard video ports, make sure that you are connected to the add-on card port.

Try a different video cable and a different port. Try changing the videos source on the monitor. Make sure that the refresh rate on the computer is 60 Hz. (Many CRTs could be run at 75Hz; this is incompatible with flat panel LCD monitors. If this was the case, reconnect the CRT monitor and reset the refresh rate. In Windows 7 on a desktop computer, just right click on the desktop and select Screen Resolution. Select Advanced Settings and then the Monitor tab)

I know there have been some desktops that shipped with the HDMI port active. Thus a monitor connected to the VGA port would go to sleep. For those machines, you had to connect the monitor to the HDMI port and then change the active video port. For laptops, often the external video adapter is disabled to conserve power. This needs to be enabled (sometimes it has to be enabled in the BIOS and then in the OS).

In some cases, the problem is simpler. The monitor failed to synch with the video card. Turn off the monitor and the computer. Turn on the monitor and set it to the correct source. Then turn on the computer. Most modern OS versions will see the monitor and correctly set the resolution and refresh rate. (This often applies to TVs when used as a monitor as well.)

I hope this helps. Please add a comment with details on your computer and video graphics adapter for additional assistance.

When i on my desktop it show blue screen and says no signal analog

That means that the monitor is not getting a signal from the computer. There are several possible issues involved. 1) Make sure that the computer tower is on. 2) Check that the video cable is connected to the active port on the desktop. (Computers often have video connections on the motherboard and an added video card. The motherboard connection is disabled when the video card is active. Similarly if there are several ports (VGA, DVI, HDMI, Display port) only one may be active.) 3) Try a new video cable (if possible) and one of the other video ports (again if possible). 4) Try connecting a different monitor to the computer or connecting this monitor to another computer.

Open up the computer and check if the card requires a separate power connection to the power supply. Make sure it is plugged in. Do the fans in the computer spin up?

If a second monitor doesn't work or the monitor works on another computer, then the problem is with the video adapter on the computer, the power supply or the power switch. Please add a comment with more information about the type of desktop and the current video graphics adapter (on the motherboard or separate card). I will provide additional help if possible.

you must go on menu- set input signal and you must choose RGB or video in complex signal (1 or 2), not antenna or RF input. Coax input port is a RF input port. Your problem is only from tv menu ( input seting)

I have a one year old Broksonic 19" flat screen LCD TV. I wanted to use it as a computer monitor, so I hooked up the VGA cord and selected PC as the input. Nothing. What am I doing wrong? Charles...

Is the computer set to send data to the video port? Laptops often have the external port disabled; check the BIOS. (This is often accessed by pressing F1, Esc or F2 before the OS loads. Check your documentation.) Then you can set the preferred monitor by looking at the Display settings.

Some desktops have a similar issue where only one port is active (DVI, HDMI, and VGA). You may need to connect a different monitor via the enabled port or use an adapter to get the VGA cable to mate with that port to change settings. (In the case of computers with video graphics cards and motherboard video ports, only one item is active. Try moving your cable with an adapter if needed to one of the other ports. Then change the BIOS setting if you do not want to continue using the adapter.)

Try a different video cable and make sure it is fully connected to both the computer and the monitor. Damaged cables are always suspect.

What OS are you using? Do you need to download drivers for the Broksonic? Go to and ask in the Product support section - they don't seem to have a direct link on the site. (For example some TVs are not compatible with the drivers in the Mac OS.)

I hope this helps.
