LI 6000 2-way charging base does not charge- no indicator light

Recent purchase of LI 6000 2 ways and neither the charging base nor a direct plug will charge the hand-helds. I assume that I may be able to get a new plug adapter, but where? Do I need to order directly from cobra or will a store such as radio shack have it? Is this a common problem or should I be concerned that the radios are defective?

I have the same problem I testes the base with avolt meter and it is getting 12v. But no lights when I put the radio on. Please help.

I can not get the radios to charge. The only time the indicator light comes on is when the radios are in the on position, but they will not accept a charge. The batteries are not distended or swollen. I have cleaned the connections.

Dear sir,

It seems that ur adoptor is not ok , u can save the money by purchasing any 9 V adoptor, It available for less than 1 USD in our country ..& cut the wires of ur budled adoptor & fix them in correct polarity with the wire connecting the charger base ..( before doing this proces check voltage output from adoptor by using a multimetre.)

Battery charging

Only the Li-Ion batteries designed to work with the radio can be charged inside the radio. If you have Li-Ion rechargeable batteries such as those you can buy along side the
Alkalines in a store, the answer is no. This type would need to be charged in the style of charger made for recharging this brand/type of battery

To the best of our knowledge the charging base and cord come together as a set. You can contact Giant Intl (who manufactures them for Motorola) and get replacements: 1-800-638-5119, giantintl@callcenter.com

I HAVE PURCHASE THE TWO WAY RADIO CXT175 THEY WANT CHARGE I NEED HELP

There is no charging indicator on your radios, but after the charger is connected and plugged into a wall outlet for approximately 15 hours, the battery status indicator should show a full charge. If this is not happening you may have a defective charger or charging circuit, and you should contact Cobra via their Customer Service number, 773-889-3087, or through their web site, www.cobra.com.

Then they are charged. Or the battery is bad if you have no power.

When they are low it takes 12 to 24 hrs for full charge.

Problem charging

If you are referring to a flashing yellow light on the charging base, this is an error code. Either the 1) battery is bad, 2) not making good contact in the charger, or 3) very very low on charge. The solution for this set of problems is as follows: 1) have the company you purchased them from replace them, 2) clean your contacts with a pencil eraser, 3) leave the battery on the charger with the yellow light flashing for an hour or two. If the battery is just very low on a charge, it will come back to life and the light will change to be constant. If the battery is bad or shorted out, the light will continue to flash and you will need to get with the vendor you purchased the batteries from.

Other things which come to mind are compatibility issues such as you are using a different battery chemistry than you had before. NiCd batteries can charge on either of the two chargers available for the P110 (slow rate or fast rate). However, NiMH and Li-Ion batteries require a fast rate charger.

If you are referring to a yellow blinking light on the radio while it is in the charger. You need to shut your radio off. Radios should always be turned off when charging. If the radio is left on you will never have a full charge. Also, if you inadvertently press the PTT while the radio is turned on, while on a charger, you can cause damage to the radio.

FYI: There is no light to show "out of range" on the radio, unless you are possibly using a trunking or repeater system. A blinking light on your radio indicates the radio is turned on and/or there is traffic on your frequency. Your charger base light can be red, yellow or green. This indicates the charge cycle status. Flashing most always means some type of error.

Best regards

Charger / Adapter

Radio shack sales a universal power adapter. <CAUTION> make sure the adapter is set to the correct voltage and that the tip is set to the correct polarity. The only other option is to order the adapter from Cobra.
