Question about Dryers

Open Question

I have a GE DHDVH52EF0WW dryer that sounds like it has a load of tennis balls in it when it is running.

I have installed a rear bearing kit (bearing was bad), white and green glides (showed some wear) and belt (precautionary). The noise is still present. Any troubleshooting tips/guidance would be appreciated. Thanks, Karl

SOURCE: DRUM BEARING REPLACEMENT KIT Frigidaire GLER341AS2 Dryer

Hi. I don't work on many Frigidaire's, but that pesky ball bearing does not go into any of those grooves. It goes in the very back center of the cradle, sandwiched between the ball and a metal strip on the back side of the cradle. (It is suppose to drain off static electricity from the drum. If it gets lost, it's not a major loss) As for lube, just put a gob of the stuff that comes with the kit in the bottom of the cradle before reinstalling drum.

SOURCE: Dryer has thumping noise.

Yes that is what most likely is the problem to begin with. The drum usually never goes out of round . Replace bearing best choice

GE adora front load makes loud rattling sound in spin cycle. nothing in drum. sounds like a ball bearing

its the inner baskets bearings behind this basket as water gets past the rear seal into these bearings and ruins them, you need to dismantle the entire unit to remove the inner basket from the outer tub to replace these bearings

My king-sized sheets (only thing in load) are getting tangled in a ball in the dryer and not getting dry.

This is pretty common with lighter fabrics and is easily remedied. Put several new tennis balls in with the sheets to keep them from balling up. There are commercial products that do the same thing, but tennis balls are much less expensive.

Dryer repair

The ball gets bolted to the drum first. Then the white bearing gets installed on the back of the dryer. Then It all goes back together when you install the drum into the dryer.

My dryer, after it heats up, makes a sound like the bearings might be going out. Is this a common problem? Or could it be something else?

it sounds like the roller on the belt tensioner is basd the bearing get hot and expand locking up the bearing causing a noisey sound. if left alone it will cause a banging noise later on. Sears sells the roller and belt in a kit form for most makes of dryers

HI sounds to me like your drum support is worn, it would make a thumping sound. You have 2 you should replace them both.

How to install rear bearing on Frigidaire model fex831cso dryer

Not sure you are up to the job as everything has to come out from the front door panel all the way to the back of the machine.
If you are up to it there is a ball like a trailer hitch on the back of the drum that rides in a plastic saddle screwed to the back of the machine, both have to be replaced. MAKE SURE MACHINE IS UNPLUGGED
The kit was about 30 dollars last time I did it and comes with everything you will need. Don't try to reuse the three screws that hold the ball onto the rear of the drum or you will find out what aggravation is.
Also don't leave out the little ball bearing, it has a purpose.
Good luck
