Question about Jet 3 Ultra Power Chair

1 Answer

Jet 3 Ultra Power Chair will not turn on.

Definitely in control board. Took it to a dealer and he put it in a known good chair and it was just as dead. Anyone have schematics of the control board? OR a place that could repair the board? Later Mike

I found the problem and it was a bad CONTROLLER. I found one on ebay for $349.00 and when it arrived I put it in. The chair works fine now. What I originally wanted to do was fix that controller, but no one had schematics to trouble shoot it. Thank you all for your suggestions.

On ultra jet 3 there is a 3 prong outlet below the seat on the right & has cord that goes to normal outlet is that how to charge it

VI. BATTERIES AND CHARGING
To charge the batteries using the off-board charger:
1. Position the front of your power chair next to a standard
electrical outlet.
2. Be certain the controller power is turned off and the
freewheel levers are in the engaged position. See III.
"Your Power Chair."
3. Plug the off-board charger into the off-board charger/
programming socket on the controller.
See figure 25.
4. Plug the off-board charger into the electrical outlet

You should use the charger supplied with the power chair. It is
the safest, most efficient tool to charge the batter-ies. We do not recommend using other types of
chargers (e.g., an automotive battery charger).

Contact the manufacturer of the lift for the brackets. Depending on what type of lift it is, you will either order the bracket from them or from a Pride Mobility Dealer or the lift dealer

I HAVE A JET 3 ULTRA CHAIR, WE LOSS THE 24V PRIDE JET 3 Ultra Power Chair Smart Battery Charger, CAN WE USE A COMPUTER CABLE INSTEAD IF NOT WHAT CAN WE DO.

You can use the AC charger cord from a computer as a replacement for the AC cord of the charger. If the AC cord plugs into the wall and plugs into the charger or charger receptacle on the back of the power chair, you can use it.
If I remember correctly, This chair has a 4 Amp on-board charger which has an AC receptacle on the back of the chair to plug in an AC cord. The off-board chargers take a universal AC cord which will work with a universal computer AC cord. If the AC cord plugs in, use it.

How i get help to avoid the mechanical problems that i have with my jet 3 power chair?

It would depend on what kind of problems you are having. Contact your dealer or manufacturer for assistance. Ask for a technician to evaluate your power chair (may cost $50-$100) and give you an estimate on what may be needed to repair it. If your insurance company bought you the power chair, they may pay to have it repaired.
Good luck!

Yellow lights blink and chair does not move on Jet 3 power chair

The number of lights that are blinking indicate what the problem is. Visit this site to locate the type on controller on your power chair and you will be able to see that the blinking lights mean:

Try to reset your manual brake release as this is a common problem.
If you continue to have a problem, contact your manufacturer or dealer for service. If your insurance purchased they power chair for you, they may also cover the cost of repairs.
Good luck!

The chair suddenly lost power and now the lights flash continuously. The chair won't take a charge. A repairman tried fixing it at a local shop and said he put a new battery in and it sizzled. Now he is...

If he put in the batteries (2) properly, they should never sizzle. Some will emit a very minute spark when the final connection is made, but that is normal. There are fuses coming off of each battery to the power controller that will blow at 40 to 100 amps or so, depending on the chair; these will blow before the chair frying, or the circuit breaker will trip, or the controller will fry and all will be quiet on the chair, so I am going to say that the batteries weren't properly hooked up, otherwise on of the above items would have shut everything down. Continuous flashes indicate trying to start the chair while it is still on the charger, or with the joystick off-center. Make sure it is unplugged and notohing is resting against the joystick. If it's still a no-go, then you have either a joystick issue or controller issue. You will need to test those by replacing with known good controller/joystick, which a dealer should be able to do for you. Good luck.

All six lights blink on my Jet 3

I just had the same problem with my uncle's power chair. The number of "blinks" indicates a problem code to the technicians. My chair needed the joystick control assembly replaced. Once replaced, evrything was back to normal. 'Not a cheap fix but much needed. Good luck my friend!!

Jet 3 Ultra won't charge

Indeed, you need to find a repair shop. Try a google search for power chair repair, or ask your local hospital or if you can find one a power chair store. Most likely, you have a mechanical failure of the wiring, the battery themselves, or corrosion on the battery posts. Since the chair lights up when the charger is in, it is unlikely that the charger is broken. You may have a failure of the controller board, but that is also unlikely. And batteries do not usually suddenly fail completely; they typically fail slowly, losing the ability to completely charge.

I assume that you did not see a great deal of fluid leaking out of the battery container; you might look in the container and check to see if a battery is cracked or missing fluid.
