a 6ya Technician can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repair professionals here in the US.

SOURCE: mouse pad
I have this problem every now and then. For a quick fix, I goto the toolbar next to the time where it has the Synaptis Pointing Device Icon, a box, with two boxs under it (like the mouse on the laptop) left click it -> Pointing Device Properties -> Device Settings Tab, highlight the device and click DISABLE, it'll ask if you are sure you want t disable it -> OK. Then simply, click it again, and ENABLE. This like, "resets" the mouse, mine works everytime.

try disabling ACPI (Advanced Configuration Power Interface) in BIOS screen, if you have that option. Something does not agree with Windows control of all ACPI devices...could be the modem or ethernet network. Also, if no success, try disabling "allow this device to wake computer" for either (or both) the modem or ethernet network devices in control panel-system devices option screen.

Try pressing FN/F5 keys simultaneously, or the key that toggles internal/external Display. Look for the double screen Icons on the keys.
Tap the Pause Key.
Restart and press and hold F8 key when Toshiba logo appears. When the boot Menu appears, select Last Known Good Configuration.
If all else fails ther should be a reset button on the side of the LT. Consult owners Manual for location

go to start, control panel, performance and maintanance, system, hardware, device manager. If you see any question marks on any of the devices, then you need to reinstall the drivers for that device, but if there are no warnings then you may need check into it further.
