Call Optoma technical support listed on the optomatv website. They will ask for the set serial number. Based on the serial number, they will tell you which replacement lamp is the correct model for your TV. (I found this out after ordering the wrong replacement lamp based simply on the model number of my TV and finding that it did not fit.)

I have a optoma rd65 when on it makes a loud humming noise

You most likely have a failing color wheel. This is a known problem in the RD65. If you search on EBay for an RD50 color wheel it is the same one that goes in the RD65. They are roughly $150 depending on who you purchase from. They can be user replaced if you are handy with tools. The bearings wear out and this causes the humming you are hearing. There should be a reset lamp function in the service section of the menu. If there isn't, there is a way to do it by pushing and holding a sequence of buttons on the tv or remote. It varys from model to model. Check your manaul to see what the correct proceedure would be for your model.

Need a new lamp for RD50 tv.

Good Day, jo;
When getting a new lamp it is less expensive and faster to purchase the needed lamp from the manufacture of TV. (Make sure you have model number at hand). They will send lamp directly to your home, the lamp will have enclosed instructions on replacement and any special tools you may require. It is very simple and will only take about 15 minutes at the most to replace.
Good Luck, big IRISH.

replace the fuse thats on the little board beside the new lamp. that will reset the buld to new. I understand that the fuse will blow right after a new lamp is installed. It will reset the counter to 0.

Hello! Just a little additional info if you will on what might to expect. This is according to the repairman where my tv is still in the shop after almost 2 wks because of the need for parts: other than the lamp the only place to get other parts (ballast and color wheel) is from Optoma and if yu need the color wheel you will have to purchase the entire assembly ($999.99) because they do not sell it separately. If anyone knows differently please let me know for I am between a rock (not really) and a hard place.
