Question about Whirlpool Cabrio 7.0 Cu. Ft. Super Capacity Plus 7-Cycle Gas Dryer - White

Dryer not drying

Took off dryer vent from the back and ran the dryer. Hot air is coming out of the back of the dryer. Vent is not clogged because it is brand new. Put clothes inside the dryer, ran for 15 minutes, opened and immediately checked clothes. No heat coming from tub and clothes were cool to the touch.

Not a major appliance expert--but if the situation is as described with hot air out vent but not in the drum where the clothing is it seems to me you have a blockage between the drum and lint filter to where it reaches the vent tube---they do make long flexible brushes for this-----a suggestion: if you have a compressor try forcing air down from the lint filter with the vent tube removed to see if the blockage is there and will clear or not.

A blockage can be a fire hazard so if you do not find it have a tech out.

So, I pulled the front off of the dryer. Underneath was completely covered in lint. I used an air compressor to blow out the lint and then vacuumed. I started the dryer to observe and noticed that it would light initially for a couple minutes. After that I would see a glow as if it was attempting to ignite but at never ignite. Any idea what the problem could be?

SOURCE: dryer wont dry clothes

Vents can fool you sometimes they seem to be ok but still cause problems. Try running with vent unhooked from machine one time and see if it works ok.
Check for leaks air leaks around the door or anywhere else.

SOURCE: the dryer is not staying hot to dry the clothes.

Sounds like the overheat is tripping, usually due to lint clogging the exit inside the dryer and inside the pipe.

Dryer has Heat but NO AIR

Many of these have a belt driven blower wheel, could be a broken belt or it came off, There was also a bulliten out on several models where the blower wheel would come loose from the drive shaft, the fix was to re attach using a medium body thread lock compound so it would not unscrew again.

Dryer gets hot but does not dry. It seems to keep the moisture in as of there isn't any air flow. I cleaned out the vents and air duct but still wont dry

This definitely sounds like a clogged vent. 1) disconnect the vent from the back of the dryer. Turn the dryer on and make sure your getting good air flow from the vent outlet. 2) if the air flow is good then your definitely have a vent that is clogged between the dryer and the outside of the house. This is the most common cause for the dryer to not dry the clothes.

Dryer is running longer than usual, it's tumbling,

no make listed here...I would pull the hose off the back of dryer and see if a lot of air is blowing out of vent. if not, heres your answer a clogged filter area ..if air blowing out leave vent hose off and dry clothes with vent off for one cycle. if clothes dry with vent hose off..you have a venting issue and need your vent cleaned out...

DRYER TAKES LONGER TO DRY

you could have restricted airflow from the lint screen not being cleaned, a bad blower wheel, or a bad thermostat. take the vent hose off the back and check to see if the air flows out the dryer with good force, if so your vent is probably clogged or not open in the wall. the vent hose may also be picned off from puching the dryer back to far.

Dryer not drying loads properly.

You need to clean the vent ducting from the point where it leaves the dryer to where it exits your home. The reason the dryer performed better was because it was not meeting any resistance from the ducting to push air through the exhaust on the back of the dryer. You obviously have a clog, kink, excessive bend, or a run that is too long. If you haven't had your vent ducting inspected or cleaned in a while, now would be a good time. In addition, the fact that your dryer became excessively hot WITH the ducting attached adds credence to my suspicion that your ducting is clogged or obstructed in some way. Without proper air flow the dryer will actually overheat to the point of failure. Usually the Thermal Cut-Out (also known as a Thermister) will blow. This component is designed to blow like a fuse in the event of an overheat condition and must be replaced. Running your dryer in an overheat condition not only will damage the appliance, but it can become a fire hazard. I would recommend a thorough ventilation inspection and cleaning. Make sure you are using the metallic semi-rigid ducting and NOT the plastic ducting. The semi-rigid resists crushing, kinking, is heat resistant and resists intrusion by rodents. If you have questions about anything I've explained to you, please contact me and let me know. I hope this helps.

Dryer not drying clothes properly

Replace the vent tubing, sounds like something is stuck or it is crushed somewhere. So replace it for about 5 dollars and see if that works. It should since you disconnect the hose and it drys right away

Clothes Hot but damp, water out of vent

Is this a combo washer/dryer in 1 unit? water shoud not come out if it is just a dryer. Your air coming out of the back vent hose should be hot. If your clothes comes out of your WASHER damp (more than normal) then your washer is not spin drying good enough. (worn belt, clogged drainage system).
