Try on a small spot not too visible to put a drop of household ammonia and let it sit preferably cover with a cup or small bowl over night to see if the surface is dulled by it.
If not, drip some on the residue or soak a piece of scrap cloth or paper towel and cover that with a cup or bowl and let it sit for a day. It should soften the baked on residue.
If you run out to buy the ammonia, please remember that the stuff can be deadly for anyone but especially a child. Hide it well.

Forgot to mention; an unused (they should ALL be) credit card won't damage hardly any surface if used to scrape at crud like that.

Be sure to clean the oven grates after using. You'll
find it effective to prolong it's useful life. But not with
water, just clean it free from residues and dirt.

My GE profile gas range keeps clicking all the time, this happens right after we have cleaned the gas range. And usually it goes away after a few hours. But this time around it refuses to go and it is very...

You are getting water into the range when cleaning causing the igniter switch to short out. The reason why it goes away after a few hours is because the water finally dries up. When cleaning the range refrain from using so much water. You will need to leave the range unplugged until the water dries up again.

Do you hear the spark ignitor trying got light the burner?

If not, then make sure there is not a residue or film of cleaning solution on the burner bases or burners themselves. It could be coincidental that the spark ignitor failed when she just happened to be cleaning the unit.

GE Profile gas range

hello dreeden5
Ngafm at your service,

You have a GE Profile oven range. I and you just cleaned it and the pilot light on all four burners continues to click on and off.

It sounds like the gas line or the gas valve, have some debris in them!
They need to be evacuated by an experienced tech.
This time you need service.

Bless You ngafm
Please give me a good rating at this sight before you leave!
Thank You

GE PROFILE RANGE TOP

psnowden this can happen. If I remember correctly GE is using a Hi Temp paint, not porclean, on this range. And if they are using porclean, it is a thin coating. With current ranges the cooking oil gets into the finish and runs the heat up causing the finish to lift. The is espically true with white. The gentlest clean will in time not stop this from happening. You can get some hi temp touch up paint to make it look better, however it will keep doing this, espically on the burners you use the most.

Ge profile gas range

What do you mean by the surface burners coming on.  This is a gas range,  correct?  Do you mean that the flame comes on?  Or does the spark come on and they don't light?
  Does the oven come on?
