SOURCE: Sony MW24FM1 either won't respond to DVD commands, or turn-off

Sounds like a bad power board. They have random meltdowns all too often. Usually the cause is an overheated transformer caused by power transistor short outs. Possibly sell it. Could get over $100 for it if sold online.

SOURCE: Toshiba system restore help please awhyaah?

  • Hi, these are instruction to perform the System Restore; follow them carefully! You will need Disks (CD or DVD); only if you needed to Backup System Files, before restoring the system; in which you may be (prompt) to do so. So have available beforehand, at least 7ea, of (DVD-R), or (DVD+R), or (DVD+RW) @ 4.7 GB ready! *Note: It is important to make, Recovery Disks for the Computer as well, in the event of system failure! *System Restore: 1. Go, to: Control Panel 2. Click, on: System and Maintenance 3. Click, on: Backup and Restore Center 4. In the (left) Tasks area, click on Repair Windows using System Restore 5. Windows may take up to 5Mins, to Setup a Restore Point; be patience! 6. The restore Wizard 7. Use (Recommended) Restore Point. Be patience! your Computer will Shutdown, and Restart. *Note: Once the computer returns to Windows Desktop, do not perform any tasks, for at least (45 min) the System Restore is still running! *Conclusion: "Message successfully restored, or failed to complete restore? Follow “prompt message,” for further recommendations." "Helpful Ratings Feedback is appreciated, thanks paul7of9”

My deepfreeze didn't show in my taskbar how i can disable it?

I understand that you would like to disable the deepfreeze software installed on the computer.

One or more methods can be employed to enable/disable (Freeze/Thaw) Deep Freeze depending on the version being used.
A) Locally at the workstation (Deep Freeze Standard and Enterprise):
The following steps can be used to disable (Thaw) Deep Freeze:

  1. Hold down the SHIFT key and double-click the Deep Freeze icon. Alternatively, you can press CTRL+ALT+SHIFT+F6. A Password dialog is displayed.
  2. Enter your password and click OK. If you have not yet entered a password you should be able to click OK without entering a password. The Boot Options dialog is displayed.
  3. Select "Boot Thawed" and click OK. This will disable Deep Freeze on the next reboot.
  4. The same steps can be used to enable (Freeze) Deep Freeze. The only change is to select "Boot Frozen" instead of "Boot Thawed".
B) Remotely via Deep Freeze Command Line Control (Deep Freeze Enterprise only):
Deep Freeze Command Line Control (DFC.EXE) can be used to Thaw/Freeze Deep Freeze through a script or batch file. More information about using this utility can be found in the Deep Freeze Enterprise user guide available at:
http://www.faronics.com/documents/DF6Ent_Manual.pdf
C) Remotely via the Enterprise Console (Deep Freeze Enterprise only):
The Deep Freeze Enterprise Console can be used to Thaw/Freeze a workstation using the following steps:
  1. Select the workstations to Thaw/Freeze.
  2. Click the "Reboot in Thawed state" button to Thaw the selected workstations. The workstations should reboot and appear in the Console in a Thawed state.
  3. Click the "Reboot in Frozen state" button to Freeze the selected workstations. The workstations should reboot and appear in the Console in a Frozen state.
Please try the steps and I am sure you would be able to disable the deepfreeze software.

I have a Toshiba TV model 36A43 that won't power on. The same thing happened yeaterday as this morning. The tv will not power on via remote, or the manual power button. Yesterday, the same thing occurred...

It sounds like you have a switch problem at the front panel of the set. If a switch gets stuck internally the micro is trying to process the command and won't respond to any other commands. The only way to find out is to go into the set and desolder all the manual switches and see if the remote will work the set. It has a seperate detector for the remote. Thanks for using fixya. Good luck

My powerbook G4 does not chime!!

I suggest you plug it into AC power, then boot with Command-P-R held down until you hear the unit chime twice, then release it. Hopefully, it will boot after this.
If not, boot with Command-O-F held down; when you reach the command line, type
reset-nvram [return-key]
reset-all [return-key]
If it doesn't boot after that, you have deeper issues if the machine is actually turning itself on and off.

Always freeze

Firefox will use a lot of disk space over time for temporary use. You might try starting up and run the Disk Utilities program to repair disk permissions.
