HP with a westell 6100 modem can not connect to yahoo only google?

OK, modems normally only have one port to either plug in one computer or it plugs into a router that has 4 ports and wireless capabilities. So how are you and your wife connecting to a modem? Your problem might be that she is connected with an ethernet cable to the modem and you are not connected at all. The web pages you see could just be what is know as cache (sorta like a holding area for a page that was previously visited). So maybe at some point and time you had a valid connection and brought up the HP site and the Google site. But now when you try to go to some other site such as Yahoo you're not getting there because you're not connected.

I had a wire come lose from our modem and don't know which it is. I need a diagram of the connections for the westell model 6100

Can you see where the wire came from? Is there still a color left on both pieces of wire? I assume Westell is either DSL or Cable, so it must be worth fixing. I will go looking on the westell site for you.

Accessing and changing present WEP security code

Type 192.168.1.1 into your web browser address bar, which will allow you to access the routers settings(do this from a computer that is connected to the router, of course). Once inside, use the default user name 'admin' and the password 'password' to conduct any changes you would like to make. If you need to reset the router becuase you've changed the password and have now forgotten, look for a small hole somewhere at the back of the router, and push a pin in (carefully) until you feel you've pressed a small button. That should bring your router back to factory settings.

Please help

If you want to do this without a router (people actually do this? I like the hardware firewall) then you would need to have a second network card in the computer connecting to the modem (so one card connects to the modem and one to the second computer) and have the internet sharing capability turned on. I've never set it up so I'm afraid I can't be much more help, I just know a little bit about it.

Good luck :)

I am useing DSL (westell modem) the modem is working but when I hook up my router WRT54G I am unable to connect to bellsouth internet.

I had a similar problem when I installed my DSL service. The problem I had was that the IP address for the modem and the wireless router ended in 0. i.e. 192.169.1.0. I had to chage the routers default IP to something line 192.168.1.10. Try this and see if it helps. You have to log onto your router without the modem connected to do this.
