The points on the contactor switch are most likely stuck. will have to be replaced if you can find a local supply house they are usually no more than 10$

SOURCE: This is a duo derm roof top air conditioner, possible compressor freezing up

If the compressor is not even trying to start you have an electrical problem in the circuit for the compressor. The thermostat could be open and not supplying power to the compressor or the thermal overload device could be open.

SOURCE: Whirlpool portable AC, compressor works, but no exhaust fan

This is a single speed permanent split capacitor motor for the condenser. One of the capacitor wires shows infinite resistance to hot and netral. The motor needs to be replaced.

Why does my A/C condenser compressor turn on and off every 5 minutes?

You need good airflow across the indoor coil, the evaporator. Air warms the refrigerant. If there is no airflow, the refrigerant will come back out freezing cold (in liquid form) and can damage the compressor valves. Before charging any ac unit, good airflow must be checked for across both evaporator and condensor.
Too much, overcharging will cause freezing all the way back to the compressor in a capilary tube type of ac.
Where is it the refrigeration lines are freezing cold?

The compressor still on and freeze the evaporator

The compressor is probably on bc the contractor is stuck. Disconnect power to compressor and check for continuity across the contractor using your meter

Compressor will not stop running

There has to be a stat or switch or controller of some kind on the rv. I would check that first. If you have a battery operated stat then try changing the batts, otherwise it could be the contactor on the unit or a bad stat.

Brand new Dometic rooftop ac,freezes up at night, does fine during day...??

This is common for most air conditioners and is normal due to humidity levels being higher at night causing more condensation build up and then freezing. Solution: Turn down thermostat at night to allow compressor to turn on and off.

Duo Therm AC not working

If unit was freezing up the air flow would normally stop, until the unit is turned off and allowed to thaw. I suspect evaporator blower may have a worn out belt, or compressor is shutting off due to control or internal overheat. What is the age of the unit?

Compressor on AC does not go off.

If it is sized correctly I would assume that the problem is a stuck contactor relay. They some times weld themselves closed when they get old.
