My MC6500P Janome has a hard to turn wheel

This could be cause by a several different conditions. It is often the case in this situation that the machine is merely in need of lubrication. You may also have thread wrapped around one or all of your thread take up linkages. It could possibly be a matter of belt tension either on the motor belt or the timing belt. In any case it would probably be best to take this machine to a reputable sewing machine repair shop in your area.

Machine has seized. Wheel will only turn a 1/4

It's probably out of time, or a belt inside has slipped. If it's computerized..could be a card burnt out. Wish I could help more, but I don't have this machine.

No matter which direction I turn the tension, I have big loops

If you threaded the machine with the presser foot up and the is bobbin inserted so the bobbin thread is feeding from the bobbin spool in the correct direction and through the guides as indicated in the manual, then there is a possibility that the timing needs to be adjusted by an authorized Brother tech.

Shut down in the middle of sewing and will not turn back on.

Was it tired? The bobbin case is locked in place, because of tread or lint.
The "hook" will not move. Take the bobbin unit apart and clean and oil the hook (yes, oil, just a Q-tip amount).

Keep on Sewing
