Make sure that when your machine stops and cuts that your needle is in the upper most position. Other than that you may need an adjustment from a pro repairman.

My Brother HE 1 will not feed the top thread. When I embroider, the thread never comes off of the spool. I have rethreaded the needle, it is correctly threaded.

I don't have this particular machine, but have you made sure that you are threading correctly? I would completely remove your upper thread and put on a fresh needle. Also, whenever you do make a thread change, be sure and cut the thread at the spool on top and then pull the thread from the bottom (needle area) This will help prevent any fraying in the thread path that you can't get too easily. If this isn't an embroidery only one, try just sewing first so you will know if it feeds. It it does work in sewing mode, some machines are picky about thread. I agree with sylviaivie about find another repairman, they are suppose
to guarantee the work they do.
when the upper shaft is replaced & then the machine is retimed
the machine should work just fine.
but just don't take it back to that man to be repaired
here is a tip if it happens again,,
always try to cut the top thread first,
& turn the machine up on it's back to access the bottom cover
take the cover off the bottom to get access to the bobbin thread
where you can cut the bobbin thread
then you should be able to get the needle out without breaking it &
damaging the upper shaft, replace the needle & make sure
that the thread is good quality & not knotty, clean out the bobbin area of lint or thread
always change the needle on the embroidery machine every project
make sure the bobbin area is kept clean of lint or thread
clean under the needle plate at least once a week for lint if you
embroidery everyday or just often

I need a replacement needle to embroidery. need to know the model#. I have a Brother SE-270D Easy Thread Cassette System.

The thread cassette has no bearing on what needle you use. You need a Schmetz embroidery needle with the red band size 75 for light to medium weight fabrics or a size 90 for heavier fabrics such as denim.

Make sure that your needle is put in the correct way, there is a groove in the front of the needle, check with your finger nail, this is usually to be facing you, and make sure the thread is going through the tension holder correctly do not have the foot down when you are threading the machine,as this stops the thread from going through the needle tension holder.

Brothers pe150 embroidery machine will not sew

If you tighten up your needle thread, reduce the tension of the needle thread.
For embroidery, and zig-zag, and because the needle makes side movements, it needs more needle thread.
So try to keep you needle thread not very tight,
and tight up your bobbin case tension more, so that the two threads meet under the meterial.
