Record player turntable runs too slow. How to troubleshoot?

If this is a belt drive turntable the belt might be in the wrong position or is slack due to wear.

2 problems, 1st turntable run at 45 speed when on 33 setting. 2nd, turntable won't move unless you help it.

It depends if these are belt or direct drive decks. If they are belt, then in the first fast speed one the belt might have slipped and is now on the 45 setting when it should be on the 33 setting.

The other deck has either a really **** belt, or a bad motor, or needs oiling or having grease or muck removed from it's works.

A whole list of problems can make direct drive decks act this way.

Why is this turntable running slow?

It depends which type of turntable it is. If a belt one then change the belt, make certain you make a note of how the belt fits before removing it.

Direct drive turntables are more difficult. As it could be any number of faulty parts that cause it.
A build up of grease or dirt in any type of deck can slow the speed down.

A faulty motor on both types of deck will also cause it.

Otpimus 1000 will play 45 speed but not 33?

That is a belt drive unit. If there is no speed adjustment. You need to take the platter off and check the capstan and belts.

Would changing the belt help as my turntable plays too fast.

A lot of turntables have two belt positions on each pulley. One for 33 and one for 45. I would check to make sure the belt hasn't slipped into the 45 position.

I just recently bought a new turntable, and when it plays my LPs, the LPs sound somewhat slower than the original. Does the slowness have to do with the belt of the turntable? Is there anyway I can fi

If the 45's play OK then your belt might not be fitted in the right place. If they are both slow, then either the belt is slack or the drive is faulty.

My turntable speed is too slow. I have the optimus lab 1000 and there are speed adjustments on the bottom side of the unit but turning these either for 45 or 33 rpm did not change results. I have already...

Look under the platter or on the bottom of the turntable. There should be two adjustment holes for 45 and 33. You will need a small screwdriver for adjusting these. If this does not work clean the control pots with spray cleaner.

I have not used it in a long time seems like the speed is wrong when i put it on 33/1/3 plays slow when i put on 45 it much better playing the 33

Good day. It sounds to me like the belt is worn. Under the felt of the turning section, there should be two rather large holes. Insert your thumb and forefinger and pull the table off. You should also see where the existing belt is running. Insert new belt around the motor first and replace the table section. Now, through the two holes, manouver the belt onto the table section until it spins freely
