SOURCE: Audiovox FPE3000 turned off sponataneously and will not turn back on

Power supply failure- I found the filter caps were all cooked dry and the yellow glue they use in this power supply turns conductive where it turns dark brown. Unsolder the devices and feet on the heatsinks and remove them along with the stand-up driver board. Change all caps-1000u/16V, 470u/16V, 47u/50V, 10u/50V. Scrape and pick off the brown glue from all devices. Re-assemble. Mine would then fire briefly and I noticed only one fan was turning. Removed the fan and found the bearing was seized in it. Power supply will now run properly with the defect fan unplugged. I won't service one of these again-the picture sucks!

I think the transformers in these units are the problem not the "power board" I have a symphonic that had a bad transformer in it two legs were not putting out any voltage so I replaced the whole main board for about 50 usd. I may put a small fan inside to move some air around that transformer so that it stays cool

Check to be sure that there is no voltage on the input line. You don't indicate what input you are using. Since the set appears to work without an input connected, try looking at the input cable. Also, if the problem is internal to the set, shorting the input jack would cause the same behavior. Please update this with what you find.

SOURCE: fujitsu power supply shutdown goes to standby mode. no picture. If I turn it off for a while I get great picture and after a while it shuts down and goes into standby mode. Is this a power supply that

This is most likely caused by the Main Power pcb.

See Fujitsu Service Bulletin on this problem in the P42HHA10 model. -see link below

A similar Service Bulletin is probably available to suit your model. A competent service technician should be able to implement the service bulletin.

SOURCE: Bad power supply and regulator circuit

I had the Same issue. on a 50PF9431D/37 set. Many Plasma Set's use a LJ44-00118A PS-505-PH Power supply from Samsung. Known to have this common problem. If you can, or have a friend that can Solder components?. Unplug your set remove the back panel & locate your power supply. It will be the PCB in the center of the set just above the Video/Audio connections. http://www.shopjimmy.com/power-supply-unit-lj44-00118a-from-philips-50mf231d-40.htm. Is a Link to a photo of the PCB. Make a note of the locations of all cable connections then unplug them all. Un-install PCB, Check all Fuse first. I believe their is 5 or 6 of them on the PCB. Then replace the two 3300uf 10v 105C Radial capacitors at C8060 & C8059. Look to see if the Caps are deformed and or split at the top. The location of the caps are in the Lower bottom edge of the PCB. A local shop may Carrie them if not, digi-key has them. Part # http://search.digikey.com/scripts/DkSearch/dksus.dll?Detail&name=493-1754-ND. Total cost was $7 with S/H.

Try disconnecting the power supply and start it on battery only.
After you see a screen display of some kind, the power supply can be reconnected.
If this does not work, then remove the battery and start the computer using the power supply only.
After the computer start up sequence is complete, the battery can be re-inserted into the computer.

If the computer continues to misbehave on later restarts, then follow the more rigorous BATTERY RECALIBRATION Procedure below.

1. Now, after the system is up and running with both the battery inside and the power supply connected, after taking note of the current settings so that they can be restored later, set the power plan to High Perfomance, set the computer to Never Sleep on Battery and on Power Supply, disconnect the power supply and allow the computer to run until it shuts itself off due to a low battery condition. This will discharge the battery and performs phase one of battery re-calibration.

2. Next, plug in the power supply, while leaving the battery in place and restart the computer. Allow the battery to fully recharge while leaving the power plan at High Performance and the Sleep to Never. This performs phase two of battery re-calibration.

3. Then, disconnect the power supply and allow the computer to run until it shuts itself off due to a low battery condition, again, now that it has a possibly better, fuller charge than in the previous charge/discharge cycle.

4. Again, restart the computer, connect the power supply and allow it to completely charge the battery.

5. Shut down the computer, disconnect the power supply.

6. Restart the computer and allow the computer to run until it shuts itself off due to a low battery condition again.

7. Now the battery has been recalibrated. Connect the power supply, restart/resume the computer and allow the battery to fully charge again. The Power Plan and Sleep Mode can be set back to their original settings at this time.

8. The above procedure should only need to be performed every six to twelve months to recalibrate the battery.

This condition sometimes happens to my HP Presario when I have left the power supply plugged into the computer with the battery in for several days or weeks at a time, without running on the battery alone for a while to discharge and recharge it a little bit.

HP recommends that when running your computer for more than two weeks from the power supply, the battery should be removed to slow the aging of the battery, which can cause the battery to lose capacity or fail prematurely.

My power cord seems to not be working with this computer. I have tried all the outlets in my house and nothing is charging my laptot.

I'd call HP and request a new power adapter. I've had a few of them go bad before and it's just a short in the cord. Your plug might be loose also...but a good place to start is by calling HP and getting a new cord.

Why does my computer shut off by itself? it is a hp pavilion a305 pc desktop. we tried cleaning all the dust out but it didn't help

HP skimps on powers supplies which causes them to run at near-capacity and eventually fail. That case should accept a standard ATX supply but if buying on eBay (suggested-lots cheaper) check with seller for compatibility. Do NOT replace the old supply with the same power rating; choose one with 50% or greater capacity; i.e. replace 250W with 350-400W. It won't cost hardly any premium or use more power, just run under less stress.

best way is to just try out the battery on another laptop, or try another battery on yours. If the laptop is not very old, and I suppose yours isn't more than 2 years old, your battery shouldn't be dead.

My laptop wont start. it tries, goes dead, powers

1. Remove the battery
2. Use only the power supply.
3. After the computer starts, put battery back in.
Power supply can't handle low battery & computer start up at the same time.

Compaq Presario sr1000(sr1430NX) will not stay powered on

Hi!

Please check for the cables coming into the motherboard from the power supply. Also try and check for any loose cables.

If that doesn't help then please get your power supply changed as its faulty.

Please rate this solution.

Thanks

Power issues on HP DV1000

It is possible you have two dud batteries. Recharageable batteries have a limited life, they have a finite number of charge and discharge cycles.
With the battery removed and only the power supply connected and the laptop powered up, when you touch the connector on the laptop and the laptop does not shut down then the laptop connector is OK.

If you can verify your new battery is OK the the fault could be the power supply adapter, if may not produce enought current to run and charge the battery. Try charging the battery overnight by turning off the laptop and leaving on the mains t charge. Borrow a mains adapter and test it on your computer.

You can also check the BIOS setting for power management, ie. hibernate, low power shut down etc.

The laptop doesn't boot up always.

I would try the following:
1. Remove the battery completely. If the computer boots properly several times in a row, then the battery may be causing the power supply to do strange things.
2. If you have experience removing laptop components, try removing the hard drive. Because you say the screen goes black (I assume the system powers off) sometimes after the HP logo, I doubt its Windows or a software issue.
3. If HP has a diagnostic CD you can boot to, try that.
4. It may be the power supply acting up. If it charges the battery, and if you can boot to Windows with the battery, try getting a new power supply.
5. Otherwise, it may be the motherboard of the laptop.
