Question about Panasonic Home Theater System System
I have a new sharp led aquos 60" that I can"t figure out how to get surround sound to also play for cable tv. Currently have cable from wall going into the cable receiver w/hdmi cable to tv. Panasonic SA-pt670 is DVD/surround sound receiver and I have it connected w/hdmi cable and digital audio cable to tv. Also have Xbox connected w/hdmi cable but not as concerned about surround sound for it. Should cable receiver connect to DVD/surround sound then go to tv? Or do I just need to program tv to know to get audio from DVD/surround sound? Have tried to find a setting to change and nothing is working so far. Help please.

SOURCE: I have a Panasonic VIERA
You need a digital audio fiber optic cable. You can get them at Walmart, Radio Shack, Target, just about anywhere. They are not real expensive around $15

If you want to play 5.1 sound, and you got to need this fiber optic cable(black single cable)..with reciver decoder with optical on IN, to connect the xbox 360 machine on, and the high defintion cable of the xbox.

SOURCE: Just got Panasonic Home Theater
What kind of TV do you have?
I have found one of the easiest ways to connect surround system is to connect all your accessories (ie. Wii, Cable Box, VCR, etc) to the TV.
Next find the AUDIO OUT on the TV and connect this to the TV or AUX input on the home theater.
Tune the Home theater to the Input that you connected the TV to. This should play the audio through the home theater for any input you tune the TV to.
Note: make sure to turn the TV volume all the way down otherwise there will be some distortion due to the delay between the TV and the home theater.

SOURCE: can't get HTS to play
below is feature of your sony HD KDL-32ex523.
Headphone/Analog Output: The TV's side-panel 3.5mm analog output can be used to connect a set of headphones or as an audio output to connect your home theater receiver or soundbar system. You can set the TV's analog output to Fixed or Variable. You can set the TV to automatically mute the built-in speakers when a set of headphones are connected.
Regarding the above, I would recommend you use a 3.5mm to RCA cord to get audio from the TV through your HTC. Below is a picture of what the 3.5mm to RCA cord looks like:
Now purchase this cord if you don't have one.
Connect the 3.5mm part to the headphone jack of your TV and the other RCA part to Aux of your HTC. By so doing, there should be sound from your TV coming through the HTC.
I hope the above is clear. If not, please let me know.
