Question about Computers & Internet
I'm having a trouble with my access point, when i changed the security settings on the access point the dl speed got mutch slower, the only settings i changed from default settings was the WPA settings
If you are unable to fix this problem manually then consult the manufacturer website on simply use an Internet Optimizer tool. I would suggest to use Intel Software Partner Reginout - this tool ahs the feature of Internet Optimizer. It will fix this issue. WebRepOverall ratingThis site has no rating(not enough votes)

click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

First of all the disk isn't needed. Go into internet explorer and type in the ip address of the gateway. A user id screen will appear. By default the user id is admin, the password it linksys. Select Wireless for the links at the top of the router screen. Select security. You will see a screen for generating pass phrases. Once that is enabled a WEP key or whatever security key you decide to use will be enabled.

SOURCE: cannot secure my access point
192.168.0.50 is the default for your router. If you are sure that your wireless settings are okay on your PC and that you can see the network in your wireless networks list, then it's possible that your settings have been remotely changed. You can do a hard reset of the router by pressing a paper clip or something sharp into the little reset hole in the back and holding for 15 seconds. This will reset all settings and, once all the lights have stopped flashing and are remaining on, try 192.168.0.50 again, and enter admin for username and leave the password blank.
now you can enable WEP or WPA and choose a password.
Write this down! :)
Also change the router's login passphrase if you wish.
Here's the user manual:
Hope this helps

on the info i could find it only supports WEP.
but if your issue is to be more secure look up if it supports a sort of mac filter.
this will only keep everybody out of your router but your signal will only be WEP encrypted.

Please try first plug out the router and plug in again then press & hold the reset button till the power led become red and release. If that doesn't work, plug out the router, pressing and holding the reset button plug in the router.
Let me know the result please.
Thanks for joining Fixya.
Have a good day.
