    Hi

Many thanks for offering help. In fact, my computer was fully defragged and performance optimised. I solved the problem by first altering the registry to get my dvd drive to load. Then I did a clean install of Vista. Shame it came to this, but after all the hours of getting everything set up and updated, the machine is back to full health. Pity Vista didn't recognise the full backup I had made on an external drive.

    Thanks again.

My pc was very slowly running

Your machine is old, there's not much you can do. Remove any programs you don't use, stop programs from starting-up with the OS, and increase your RAM: http://www.crucial.com/index.aspx

My pc is very slow

-Can you provide more information about your issue?
-Are you using Windows XP or Windows Vista or Windows Seven?

When you say slow, is it slow when you are on the internet or slow when accessing or the computer or generally slow like everything is running slow?

My pc.. desktop is very slow.. its a windows vista

You may want to look into upgrading your RAM if there is less than 2GB installed. This is a recommendation that I have found in working with several PC's running this Operating System. Also, you would want to run disk clean up and remove any temporary files that Windows finds. Deleting any other temporary or unused files from your PC on a regular basis should increase system performance. In addition, if these steps do not solve your problem, you may want to consider upgrading to a faster performance hard drive (preferably a SATA II with a 32MB cache). As a last resort, you may look at your CPU to see if there is an upgrade for it, as well. Keep in mind that Vista is a resource hog and can slow down a PC within just a short period of time.

My computer is very slow and I need not much time left standing

The reasons for a computer being slow could be either that you have a full hard drive low memory or possibly and more likely you have malware on it. first thing to do is run and anti malware program like Malware Bytes
Download the free version and allow it to update and run a scan. once this has been done your PC should run a lot faster.

If not check your hard drive free space if it is below 15% you need to delete some of your old files and programs to free up some more

My compuer became a slow one?

Try Cleaning it out . Run some cleaners suchs as
Adware - http://www.lavasoft.com/
CCleaner - http://www.ccleaner.com/
Eusing Registry cleaner - http://www.eusing.com/free_registry_cleaner/registry_cleaner.htm

Those should remove alot of unwanted items and malicious files that you dont want.

another thing is to goto Start ,programs, accessory, system tools , and do a disk cleanup . ... Once a month i do suggest doing a disk defragment and thats in system tools to ..... all other programs i would run weekly !!
Good Luck !!! GD515

How to connect the 1394a cable UFH-421 combo system hub to my ASUS P5W DH DELUXE motherboard?

ensure you have a firewire connector on the back of the unit, if not you will need to install a PCI card to do same, or use the supplied USB adapter with this hub, install the drivers for sure, check with MY COMPUTER?PROPERTIES?DEVICE MANAGER that you have a 1394 device installed.

Try to do a system restore to where you have not install the SP1 or to the date the computer is still working fine.

Crossfire

I would recommend getting two ATI radeon cards instead of Nvidia. Crossfire is meant for ATI cards only. You will still be able to use Nvidia video cards but not as dual cards in Crossfire mode. Only on a single card basis.
