    Hi

Many thanks for offering help. In fact, my computer was fully defragged and performance optimised. I solved the problem by first altering the registry to get my dvd drive to load. Then I did a clean install of Vista. Shame it came to this, but after all the hours of getting everything set up and updated, the machine is back to full health. Pity Vista didn't recognise the full backup I had made on an external drive.

    Thanks again.

Asus p5w continous beeps from internal speaker

Hello here is the homepage:

http://support.asus.com/Download.aspx?SLanguage=en&m=P5W%20DH%20Deluxe&p=1&s=22

A component on the mainboard, could have a defect.
This could be a ram module overheating, or the power supply is too small, or overheating.

The mainboard supports 4 x 240-pin DIMM sockets support max. 8GB DDR2 800/ 667/ 533 ECC and non-ECC memory.

Try to blow the pc out for dust with compressed air, and update the mainboard drivers, and the bios to the latest version. And try to renew the thermal paste, between the cpu and the cooling element.
Or simply the mainboard has a internal defect.

Good luck

Digital home psw DH deluxe motherboard problem

- Unplug the power.
- Clear CMOS
- Change chassis intrusion position jumper
(to Default)
- Change Battery.

If that does not help, the component for chassis intrusion is likely to be faulty read more info here:

Probem with Asus P5W DH waking back up

Do you have a modem plugged into phone line - is a signal on phone line causing it (unplug phone line cable to try that).
Could be faulty power switch on front of computer where the contacts are only a hairs breadth apart and the slightest movement/vibration causes it to contact (try this by disconnecting those two wires from the motherboard

I'd try disconnectng any communication cables from the computer first. That would be LAN and Modem cables. If it still restarts, disconnect the keyboard and power down the PC. If it still restarts, then power down again before it is fully off, remove the mouse. If it still does it get a priest to do an exorcism
