Three ways are possible for you to go on:
1). Delete some unnecessary files or programs on this computer partition to free the space.
You can have many ways to free up your partition space, like deleting some useless files/folders, uninstall some unnecessary programs and running the Disk Cleanup tool.
2). Extend your this partition in Disk Management
Back up everything important on another drive, shrink your rest partition with enough free space and extend your this partition by right clicking it in Disk Management.
3). Apply some partition resizing tools.
If you are not so familiar about the partition resizing tuffs, you can directly use some partition resizing tools like: GParted, IM-Magic Partition Resizer Free, Active Partition Master and more.

Solution of low disk space

HARD DISK MAINTENANCE TO KEEP COMPUTER RUNNING EFFICIENTLY.

Hard disk maintenance should be carried once a month to make your computer run efficiently.
This removes redundant and temporary files, recovers disk space and speed up hard disk access.
Disk Cleanup should be done first - Click My Computer - then right click on the C drive then click Properties, then click Disk Cleanup - let it examine the C drive then it will calculate the amount of disk space it will recover, tick all the boxes to recover the maximum disk space and then Click OK and then Yes to perform these actions. If you have a D drive then repeat these steps on this drive too.
Next the C drive needs to be Defrag. This process converts fragmented files into continuous files and this speeds up disk access and makes the hard disk not work as hard. Click on Start - All Programs - Accessories - System Tools - Disk Defragmenter - click to highlight the C drive and click Analyse - then click Defragment.
When this is completed repeat these steps for the D Drive if you have a D drive.
Disk Cleanup and Defrag can take a long time to complete, especially if these tasks have not been for a long time.

Recieve error message that computer is running low on memory

Hi liciasol,
I see that you system is running low on memory, This can be that you have files in the Hard Drive that almost reach your Hard Drive maximum capacity.
to check you concern we will need to find out what files you have first in your Machine.
  • Check to see if you have programs that you have installed on the machine that you do no use anymore and uninstall it.
  • If there are no files on the machine that need to be remove and you Hard Drive space it taken up by something then we can try and free space from you Hard Drive by doing a Disc Cleanup on your system.
  • To do a Disc Cleanup, click on Start then All Programs, click on Accessories, under Accessories click on System tools then click on Disc Cleanup.
  • A screen should pop up asking you to select a drive letter that you want Disc Cleanup to free space on select the drive letter where windows is installed normally that should be Local Disc C:
  • Once you've selected the drive to free up space on you will see a window Disc Cleanup for (C:) and in the list will be system services or files to delete that take up space on your Hard Drive on the right of each will be Increments of disc space being consumed by each put a check on them except for those that have 0 on it then click on next or OK then a box should pop up Disc Cleanup asking you if you are sure that you want to do Disc Cleanup just click on YES it will start doing Disc Cleanup on your system.
  • If this did not correct fix your concern then I assume the you possibly have Windows Vista on you system.
  • We can try decrease the space the Shadowstorage of VISTA system restore from your machine this is known to take up disc space on the Hard Drive.
  • To perform the said procedure above follow steps below .
  • Click on Start then All Programs, Accessories, right click on Command Prompt and select run as administrator.
  • The Command Prompt window will appear, a black screen with a blinking cursor.
  • Once in the Command Prompt type in vssadmin resize shadowstorage /on=c: /for=c: /maxsize 1gb then press enter once you should get confirmation that the Shadow storage has been resized.
After Resizing the Shadowstorage type exit then enter this will close the Command Prompt window.
Restart your Computer then check your Hard Disc space again to see if any of the disc space has been recovered or free'd on your Hard Drive.
Note: also check if there are backed up files that possible you may have created that you have not burned on a dvd yet, and uninstall unnecessary documents and files from the machine or back up any pictures and videos that you may have on the machine.
I hope that this will be of help regarding you concern, have a nice day.

I keep getting a note teling me that I have Low Disc Space on my Local Disc (D) - 4.87MB free of 119 GB. How do I free up this space. When using it's solution it just empies my Recycle Bin but this doesn't...

I would download and run the registry utility from iobit.com
It is freeware and works then run CHKDSK/F.

Within iobits programme are useful utilities that empty the temporary directories and can remove unwanted old files.
Hope that helps.

LOW DISK SPACE

Do a disk defragmentation, open control panel select system administration and select defragmentation of the drives. Once completed. clear all temporary files, cookies on the internet browser.
If there is still insufficient space copy off unwanted large media files to the disc or flash memory.
Always have at least 20-30% space left in the C drive so as not to cramp up space for the program.
Uninstall all unwanted proogram files and use only what is required.
You can release a lot of space this way.

Why does my laptop show low disc space?

Hello

The low disc space message refers to the amount of free disc space on your c drive. The c drive is the drive on which your windows is installed, thus yu need to delete some games or not neccesary files to free up some space on your drive. Hope this can help you.

Kind regards

LAPTOP TELL ME i HAVE LOW DISK SPACE

This means your Harddrive(HDD) is nearly full with files and there is no more room to save/work on the harddrive.
You will have to delete some saved files or to uninstall some programs that you are not using anymore, this will create some free space on your HDD. Also do a right click on the Recycle bin/Empty recycle bin and it wil clear some space... If you need more help, let me know, I am happy to help you...

Low disk space and I did clear files.

Low disc space really means nothing, but low disc space.

I understand you have cleared your files, but your going to have to remove more....if you have excessive music, pictures, and videos...try backing them up to a DVD or flash drive, then deleting them off of the computer.

If you cannot seem to clear anymore space the next thing to do would be purchasing an external hard drive. This way you can save files on that drive while not adding anymore to the current drive. You can view some external hard drives here
