As i understand it, as with the ROck Band microphone, you need to plug in the microphone to one of the USB ports on the WII console itself. The Wii has two USB ports on the back.

I dealt with Beatles Rockband Wii on 2 systems with 2 different configurations.
  1. Wireless Drum kit configuration. The Drum USB Transmitter has 2 additional USB ports, that allow Guitar/mic to be connected, plus there is the remaining USB port on the Wii
  2. Wired Drum kit comes with a 4 port USB hub, connect the hub to the Wii, and connect all instruments to the USB hub.
The Wii will only allow 4 controllers connected at once. So if you have multiple Wii Motes, then you may have to disconnect all but the one used for the Mic player (Press 1 on the Wii mote to unsync or remove the batteries)

On the back of your Wii are USB ports. Your microphone should plug into one of these. If it's a male mic port (not USB) you'll have to hit a Radio Shack (or something of the like) for a mic to USB converter. - Don't pay more than $20.

Where do I plug in the usb microphone connection?

in the back of your wii are 2 usb connections. If you bought rockband and want to use the extention for the usb you plug the extention in the usb port and then plug the mic in the extention. The usb ports are twords the top left hand corner on the back of your wii. Enjoy singing!

Wii USB not working

I had the same problem but i found out if you only have 2 remotes and you use them for the guitar and the drums the mic wont work.
you have to use one of the remotes for the microphone
first unplug your wii console then hook up the mic to the consol
turn the wii on and use the remote for player one to activate the game without the other instruments connected.
after you get the game started it will recognize the microphone. then connect the other remote to which ever instrument you want to use. you have to have three remotes to use the guitar the drums and the microphone
