Thank you for the manual. My Sharp Aqueous is model LC-20B8U.

Went to circuit city to purchase the cable you suggested. They said it would not hook into my laptop-the outlet on my lpatop is not a plug in but rather a blue rectangle containing 3 rows of 5 little holes.( Sorry I don't know what this is called) They said I would need a converter box to convert the format of my laptop to that of my TV. Do you agree with this assessment?

After I found the manual somewhere on the internet, I realized that it is already available here. (Lucky you!)

I could not find a specific manual for your Aquos TV (which model?). Look into your manual, and see if there is an option to connect via VGA of HDMI for video
If you want to use your TV speakers, it depends what audio input options you have on your TV. You might need a cable like this:

The red/white connectors into your TV, the 2.5mm plug into your computer.

Well, you asked for an audio connection, not a video connection.
    That's a different cable.

And -no, I do not agree with that assessment.
I found the manual for your TV here. Take a look at page 33 (page 34 in the pdf-file) and you can see the connector type. (It also shows the audio connection I mentioned in my earlier post!) This video connection is called "VGA" (or 15-pin D-sub). It is exactly the same connector you use to hook up a standard monitor to your computer. All you need is a standard VGA cable like this:

Page 35 (36 in pdf) shows a list with all possible resolutions. With your XGA video onboard you should be able to get a resolution of 1,024x786. Try it out!

In other words: just use a normal monitor cable you have lying around (or take the one of your best friend to see if it works...;-), before you buy one. On older TV's you needed a converter, because the signals were different. Nice sales trick though...!

You might have to play with the settings a bit to get the picture the way you want it to be, but I looked at the instructions in the manual and the explanation sounds pretty straight forward.

If you get stuck, come back here and leave a comment.

I have a proview model 3200 is it possible to hook up a set of good house speakers to it because the sound is terrible when listening to music? There are so many jacks on the back it seems do-able.

Hook up the audio output of unit to the stereo audio inputs of your receiver (U need amp to drive any speaker) using the appropriate cord and adapters.

Is it possible to hook my dell D630 to my sharp LCD/HD tv?

If your TV has a VGA port then yes, otherwise you will need to purchase a special adapter that tends to not work well and be expensive. -Alex

What type of cable for laptop to Tv?

In order to hook a laptop or any computer to a tv you have to have the right video card with the correct video connections like hdmi or s-video. If you don't have those connections then you can't hook a laptop to a tv.

Ooops, if ntldr is missing, it means your operating system is dead. You should reinstall windows from cd. Must get into Bios to select first boot device as Cd and then press f10 and yes. When you start your lap it says you what key press to get to Bios or boot menager.

Your component cable is probably switched to the HD setting. You have to switch it back in order to get video when hooked up to a regular TV.

Connecting my Humax Series 2 Tivo to a Motorola HD DCH3416 Cable Box

Yes, the Tivo will just record in standard definition, instead of high def.

You can still hook the two up together, though.

What I would suggest (and have done in the past) is this:
Split the cable coming out of the cable box.
Hook one up to your HD cable box, and the other up to the Tivo.
Hook the output of your HD cable box to one HD input on your TV
Hook the output of your Tivo up to a different (non-HD) input on your TV.

This will allow you to watch HD while recording standard definition, and vise versa.

Running the HD through the Tivo will work, but will limit you to not be able to watch HD through it.
