Question about Sony PlayStation 2 (PS2) Console

Games run very slow after lightening incident

Lightening recently hit our backyard and caused several small electrical issues in our home. One of them seems to be with my son's Playstation 2. At first we thought it was totally dead but it turns out that it is just really slow. It takes a while for a game to load and the play is also very slow. It seems odd that lightening would cause this so it may just be a coincidence. Either way, does anyone know what causes Playstation 2 to slow down? I'm hoping it's a piece that we can just replace. Thanks ahead of time for any help!

Re: Games run very slow after lightening incident

Lightning can cause weird problems, All you need is "Static Discharge" every capacitor in your PS2. It's not recommended for you to do it by yourself. So a technician help is needed. Good Luck

My ps3 plays games fine and up until recently DVD's also, now it recognises the DVD's but when I go to play it, the screen goes blank and I have to turn off my station in order to start it up...

Over time, the reading laser in most consumer electronics can begin to slip out of alignment. This could cause the issue you are seeing. Firstly, insure that this issue occurs with all DVDs and not merely a few. This will allow you to be sure the issue is with your PS3 and not a scratched or poorly encoded disc.

If it does indeed occur with all DVDs, you may wish to try connecting the PS3 with a different video cable (i,e. switch from HDMI to RCA or vice versa) to insure it's not a copy protection glitch.

There are also several options in the Video Playback section of the PS3's Settings menu that can cause odd effects when playing discs. Insure that all upscalling is disabled, and that the proper video output format is selected. Experiment with the options and try again.

Lastly, if all of this fails, you may need to return to PS3 to Sony for repair. Some sites will tell you that running the PS3 upside down can cause discs to play properly, but I do not recommend attempting this, since the PS3's unique shape makes it especially susceptible to bumps which could cause further damage.

Iv reset my paasword but i cannot go online to play games?

Although the PlayStation Network is back up and running, many of the servers for specific games are still not. Sony has released new security requirements in lieu of the recent hacking incidents, and many companies need to overhaul their servers to meet these requirements. For example, I know that the Atlus company and the Bioware company are both doing server overhauls at the moment in North America. My best advice would be to give it a couple of days, maybe even a week, and if they are still not up, call Sony customer care.

wrap your xbox in a DRY towel and take all the cords out except the power cord, turn it on and let it overheat, this might fix your problem did for me and about 8 of my other buddies.
NOTE: the mistake most people make is using a wet or damp towel, this can ruin your xbox

Ps1 games slow on ps2

It's because the CD's that the PS2 is designed to be used for are DVD (discs) these have more complex data on them and thus the low level discs are read with such intensity that they cannot declare all the information on them!
