Question about Timex 27191 Wristwatch

Can't put (back) back on my timex indiglo

I have a fairly new mens indeglo watch but recently it got mosture in it and fogged the crystal. I popped the back off to let it air dry (room air). When crystal cleared I tried to put the back, back on and never had this much problem getting the watch back together.

I have replaced many watch batteries for myself and others but this back will not go back on. Is there a special tool to do this because I didn't want to forse it back together?? Help!! It's been a good watch should I just throw it away and buy another/not buy another indiglo watch? Thanks!

I used to work with jewelry. !!BEWARE!!
This method is for face crystals that are completely FLAT! Any convex crystal will shatter without proper tools!!!
Any method of putting the watch cover back with the watch remotely near water/moisture is a mistake. The watch will rust sooner or later.
So if you don't want to pay a jeweler five dollars to put it back on, this is what I did to my sister's watch cover when I could not snap it back.
I took my cushy 1/4 inch mousepad to a vise. You may not have a vise. If you don't, stop reading now and take the watch to a jeweler --one who replaces batteries.
Inside the vise jaws, I used a 5 inch square piece of wood, then my cushy mousepad, then the watch facing the pad, then the back in the right place for restoring.
!!!!NOTE: Not having the back in the right place will smash the stem and damage can/will result!!!
To push the back on, I picked a 12 point socket out of my socket set that was the same DIAMETER as the watch back and placed it CENTERED behind the back.
Recapping, inside vise:

  • small board
  • cushy mousepad (to avoid scarring and crystal breakage
  • watch crystal facing mousepad
  • watch back in correct position
  • ratchet socket the same diameter as watch back centered behind cover
Slowly I positioned all these items with minimal pressure. Then when I was sure that I was ready (and prepared to hear the crystal break) I put as little pressure closing the vise that I could. The I heard a snap, and to my relief, it was the back going in!

I DO NOT RECOMMEND THAT YOU DO WHAT I DID. People with broken watch crystals become very IRATE when "all it needed was a battery"!

A screw clamp would also give adequate pressure. Any unsupported direct pressure over the crystal will shatter it!

Hope this helped.
Good luck!!!!

My Timex Indeglo watch does not have any means of opening the watch so I can replace the battery. It kept perfect time when it ran, but now it does not run at all. Is it supposed to be a disposable watch...

  • If you don't already know what size battery you need, you can find this information on the back plate of your watch. Once you have your replacement battery, you will need to open the back of the watch to gain access to the battery compartment. Depending on the watch, the back plate will either screw off or be attached by a few small screws. If attached with screws, you will need a set of precision screwdrivers such as a jewelry or eyeglass kit.

Inside the battery compartment, you will see the battery is held down by a clip. Carefully remove the clip and eject the battery. Insert the new battery and replace the clip. If the battery clamp indicates you should do so, quickly press the reset button twice. Then reattach the back of the watch. If the watch display remains off after replacing the battery, press all buttons at the same time to reset the display.

Hello, I just bought a Timex Acqua with Indiglo

Depending on when you bought your Timex, you shouldn"t need a battery just yet, your Timex came with a good battery. Look under the stem (winder) for a small piece of plastic that is not allowing the stem to go all the way down, remove that piece of plastic and push the stem down and your Timex will start. Or if your Timex has buttons, look for a tab of plastic on the back cover, this tab of plastic is keeping the battery from (ground) a complete circuit remove this tab of plastic to start your Timex. Changeing the battery while fairly easy, you"d need jewelers screwdrivers and of course the new battery, Best Bet, look for a small watch repair shop in your area for the battery change.

I have replaced the battery on a timex indiglo and the back will not pop back into place. I do not want to put too much pressure on the watch for fear of breaking the crystal.

Assuming it's not a screwdown caseback make sure the gasket, if present, is properly seated. To maintain water resistance it generally takes quite a bit of force to snap the caseback on. There are special watch tools (caseback pressers) designed for this purpose to keep from damaging the crystal. Any jeweler should be able to handle this and probably will do it as a courtesy. You can buy the tool on ebay if you think it's worth the investment.

Can't get the back plate of a Timex Indiglo WR30M watch back on

It is either a screw on case back or a "snap-on. I suspect that it is the latter since you don't mention that you used a tool to unscrew the case back. So getting the back on sometimes is very difficult. I have a special tool for that to apply even pressue and the necessary force and does not put pressure on the crystal. You have to be careful to not damage the crystal. If you don't get it done, then suggest you take it to a shop that has the right tool. If you have very strong thumbs you might get it done.

    Timex indiglo. Indiglo feature died.

The indiglo technology is time limited (it dims over the years with use) and cannot be repaired - have you had the watch a long time? if so, I'm afraid it's time to get a new one. Sorry!
