Question about Schlage B362 619 KA4 Dbl Cyl Deadbolt Per 004 Ea
5 year old home. If the thumbturn is turned too far, the lock will become stuck. Have to jolt the lock to get it unstuck. The thumbturn has a little play in it. Face plate lines up. Also, the problem is not due to the ground settling. Tail piece needs greased? If so, with what?
This sounds like the fit between the thumbturn and the bolt is compromised. If you pull out the thumbturn, take a look at the flat metal blade that fits into the rectangular or "8" shaped hole in the deadbolt mechanism. I think this has become bent or misshapped somehow. Or maybe the hole has a rough burr on it. You might be able to flatten the blade with a hammer and anvil or maybe dress up the problem with a file. Good luck.

Remove, lubricate with a dry silicone or graphite lubricant and reinstall. The mounting bolts may have loosened up, and now it is not perfectly lined up. More likely is some corrossion or wear in the throw mechanism.
