Infinity Shark Vacuum

I have an 8 month old vacuum cleaner. I just used it and it made a high pitch sound then lost suction on the floor section. The hose part of the vacuum is still working full power. What do I do to fix this problem?

The suction on my bissle 93Z6 isn't working. I can turn the vacuum cleaner on but only if the brush is engaged? Any helpful suggestions to troubleshooting the problem?

I am not sure I understand your question. If the problem is that the vacuum won't run without the carpet head, that is beyond my expertise. If the vacuum is on and there is no suction, there are only three possibilities: 1. There is a plug somewhere between the pick up point and the fan. 2. There is a hole somewhere between the pick up point and the fan (an air leak reduces the vacuum) or 3. The motor is running but the fan is not turning or has been damaged badly.

My son's Bissel lost suction when used to clean carpet, but was fine when doing hard floors. The plug was in the line between the brush and the point where the hose could be removed and connected to a wand to do hard floors. It is difficult to see a plug in this section of the line (it is hidden inside the head). I was able to use a stiff wire (with the vacuum off) to dislodge the plug. (I inserted the wire, poked and prodded the plug., turned the vacuum on and checked to see if it would suck out the plug and repeated until the plug finally cleared.)

My daughter's Bissel lost suction when something (I have no idea what!) abraded the line (short section of ribbed hose) close to the brush so that there was a major air leak. Being cheap, I disassembled it enough that I could wrap that section with electrician's vinyl tape to seal the leak.

I haven't had a vacuum where the fan became disconnected from the motor, but I have had fan destroyed. I had a leaf blower that could also be used as a vacuum. In vacuum mode everything that was sucked up passed through the fan. Unfortunately, it was a strong vacuum and would pick up small rocks. When a fan has lost most of its blades sucking rocks, it stops sucking anything! Most vacuum cleaners are designed so that debris can't get sucked into the fan, so this is the last thing to check. It requires significant disassembly to be able to see the fan and can be dangerous to turn on to observe its operation once exposed.

It lost suction. How can I fix it?

Are all your filters clean? Start with end of hose and go backward. Hose, small dowel. Make sure clean. Then, next section motor or hose. Keep going.

sounds like there is blockage in the suction hose -- lay the machine down and remove the lower floor plate and clean out the hose area where it bends down to the floor unit ( use a wire coat hanger to fish out the blockage ). also check the main hose for any obstructions.

My vacuum cleaner start up fine, then quickly

Hi There,

This is a telltale sign that your vacuum cleaner is clogged. When the motor makes the higher pitched louder noise, your motor is not able to pull air through it, and has to strain harder because it's not able to breath.

Because you have already narrowed it down, that the noise only happens when you put the wand back into the vacuum, this means that you clog is definitely in the bottom section of the vacuum cleaner. Most clogs on upright vacuum cleaner occur right at the suction port behind the roller brushes on the bottom of the machine. Turn the vacuum upside down so that the brushes are facing upwards. Unscrew the bottom plate of the machine so that you may access the roller brush and belt. Look behind the brush roller for the opening of the vacuum where the suction port it. Look inside here and see if you can visibly see anything lodged inside. Sometimes just pushing a long screw driver into this hole can dislodge the obstruction.

If you aren't able to see anything in this port, and the screw driver doesn't dislodge it, look inside the small section of how that the wand connects into, and try pushing your screw driver down this hose to see if you can dislodge it from this part.

Sometimes a metal hanger can also effectively unclog hoses on vacuum cleaners, but just be careful that the hanger doesn't tear the lower hose section while you're pushing it through.

Also if you have another vacuum in the home, using the hose from the other vacuum and putting it inside the lower hose, or the suction port behind the brushes while you're pushing with the screw driver will also many times dislodge the obstruction easier.

Please let me know if this was able to unclog the vacuum cleaner, and I'd be more then happy to try and do some more advanced diagnosing with you for your vacuum cleaner.
