Philips DVP5140 Fix Here!

I fixed my Philips DVD player today.

The screen would pause saying "Loading" then eventually said "No Disc"

Do this:
1- Bring it out of Standby (power it up)
2- Open the Disc Tray
3- On remote press SETUP
4- Right arrow over to the Preference Page
5- Down arrow to bottom of the menu where it says Default (word Default will turn yellow)
6- Right arrow over to RESET (word RESET will turn yellow)
7- Press OK
8- Try to load a DVD

SOURCE: My dvd model is philips dvp 3005 and it is in standby mode

my dvd player did the same problem. and i solved this just with a screw driver:) if your dvd player s guaranty finished!! switch off the player and open the screws which r 2 on sides and 3 behind the dvd. open the cover and take off the two group of cables on the chipset which are on the mechanical part side! (mechanical side: dvd driver) than plug the cables again to their socket. its done! close all and go on ! i hope this will solve your problem as mine...

SOURCE: Philips DVP5140 region-free DVD player: NO DISC

You could try cleaning the laser using a laser cleaning disk. Most of the time when it cant read a disk its just because the laser is dirty. If that doesn't work it could just be a faulty laser

SOURCE: II can't unlock my philips

You need to make sure that you do the #8243 step

To change your DVD region settings try the following:

Turn on player with no disk inserted
Press "Open/Close" on the remote control
Press "259″ on the remote control
After enter the code 13893108520 again on the HOME Screen and the player will show region "0"

Now the buttons on the front of the player do not work anymore.... You will need to go to SETUP and click on RESET FACTORY SETTINGS....
Wait until the player restarts and now you can play all DVD regions

The button to open/close my Philips DVD player Model DVP5140/37 is not functioning, and the remote does not have an open/close button. How do I fix this??

Here are some troubleshooting steps to get you started to resolve the issue.

First, Try to unplug the unit for 10 seconds from the power source. Wait 10 seconds after unplugging and reconnect. Try to open/close and see if the tray opens. This may resolve the issue as this is what Philips Technical Support says to do in this situation on their website.

Also, you should be able to eject with the remote. To eject or open the disc tray with the remote, you need to hold the STOP button on the remote for 5 seconds.

Hope this helps! If not, I was told to give a direct phone call to Philips Customer Care Center from 12pm-8pm EST Monday-Saturday. Their phone number is 1-866-323-9916. Have the device/unit ready when you call with the Serial Number handy.

Warm regards,
Craig

Disc shows loading then error on all dvd disc

Put a cd in the dvd player if it is marked that it plays cds... if it plays the cd your dvd laser is shot... cheaper to get a new unit. if it doesn't play a cd try cleaning the laser. and last but not the last thing try unplugging it for a short time then plug it back in... if nothing works get the one tool that fixs most everything...... take it to office depot and they can recycle the stuff inside and help keep the earth green...then onto wally world.
