Dear Friends i have used in gigabyte mother board model no:GA-G41M-ES2L the problem is how i update my bios now is currently used in old version 1.0 but i have to update my bios pls tell me and solve...

you need to flash the bios .

download the new bios from gigabyte website and follow their instructions on how to update bios. be very carefull when doing this because if done incorrectly it would render your motherboard useless permanently .

in my experience if your m/b is working its best not to update the bios only time i would update the bios would be if the new bios update has new features that i really needed . if not i would not really flash the bios .

Update available for HP BIOS PTools Security

Usually you don't flash the bios while you are in the bios. Sometimes if you flash the bios, it will go to default settings and there will no longer be a password. Sometimes removing the CMOS battery for a few seconds and replacing it will also do it.

Problem with my Asus p5pe-vm motherbord. When i start it,the message CPU uCode loading error appears. What to do...HELPPPPPPP

If your over clocking your CPU settings reset to default. See if you still get the error. If you still get the error than update your bios. There are a couple of way to do this. You can use the software on your Asus CD or you can down load the latest BIOS-Utilities, Afudos BIOS update tool V2.36. Than download the bios file, P5PE-VM BIOS 1501.

How do i update my bio for a elitgroup

To do a BIOS update, you need to look on the board for the make of the elitgroup model.

Then, you will have to look on the internet and cross check with different websites (manufacturer's website is best).

Make a DOS bootable floppy disc and put the flash program and the binary file on it.

Scan the floppy for viruses, etc. Then, boot to the floppy. Run the flash program and enter the binary file name. Don't turn off the computer. Once the flash is done, most PC's will either reboot or shutdown.

Go into the BIOS and enter the default settings. Save and exit. Then go back into the BIOS and modify it according to your likings.

Bios update. I have .bin file, but flash is not working.Chaintek MPM800-3.

Bios is best flashed from a dos (or similar) floppy disk. If you have a floppy then you need to download a boot floppy (I prefer win 98 ones)
and then copy the bin file and the flash utility to that disk.

Bootdisck.com has a selection

Boot from the floppy (you may have to set your bios to do this)

If you don't have a floppy try borrow a usb floppy drive (you may have to tell your bios about it)

If you have windows working there are flash programs that will work from windows.

As with all bios procedures make sure that you have the CORRECT bios for your board. Other bios's will not work and may end up harming your board

Also ALWAYS make a backup of your original bios (best to copy to a flash drive as soon as you can)

Bought a new flash drive- 4gb, and can't seem to install it on my laptop. I have another another one that is older and had no problems with it. can someone help me with this?

San disk quality is not the best I have a whole heap of sandisk 2gb & 4gb cruzers that are all pooched. I have tried lots of different diagnostic software to try recover files from these things with not much success.

All I can suggest is to avoid that brand and never keep vital information on a flash drive that you done have backed up somewhere else

No processor bios update

Sounds like you need to flash the BIOS (UPDATE the BIOS).

Do you know how to do this? The way I do it is by setting up a USB key as a boot device and have the FLASH utility on there....

HERE IS A LINK
which contains files to create the FLASH utility either on:

FLOPPY
CD (via ISO IMAGE)

... as well as some guides on what to do and other helpful stuff.

Its worth noting that if you have made any changes to BIOS, they will be restored to the 'factory' settings when you FLASH in the updated BIOS.

This should work, let me know if it doesn't.

Update Bios

The way most companies do it, is go to the companies website and go to help and support and type in update or flash BIOS. The company will ask for your computers model number and type. Then they will let you know what the latest BIOS is and do you want ot update it. You need to find your latest BIOS. the easiest way is to go to CNET.COM and download a smal program called CPUZ. Run it on your computer and it gives you all of your computer information to include BIOS, BIOS Maker, BIOS Version and other things like RAM.. you can also go to the BIOS company web site and flash it from there also..so either way that works best..good luck. please rate this solution.

I want to update my bios, Ausus- P5N73-AM motherboard, plzzz help!!!!!

Check what bios version is on the board now, then look at the bios updates at Asus. There are mostly
two reasons too update a bios. Upgrading cpu, a newer cup that was not listed when the board came out will have a bios update for the newer cpu. A specific problem that is listed with the update that you have the same problem. If you do not fall into one of these areas, then you should not update the bios, and if you read your manual it will tell you not too.
So you figured out you need too, go to Asus and download the bios update, then put it onto a flash drive,
with the pc off, plug in the flash drive and start the pc, the bios post should show the drive in menu
with your other drives. Enter the bios, usally it is holding the del key, go to tools and then bios flash.
When you get your bios update download the manual, then print the page with this info on it, follow the manual as you do this, DO NOT do it without it,if you mess it up there will be problems. It is easy if you walk through it with the manual as the same time you are doing it. This board might have an easy flash
that can be done while running windows, MANUAL,, read it. The best way is flash while in bios but easy flash also works. Do not just read what I said and try it,please follow the manual as you go along,it will save you a lot of problems in the long run. Asus has a great site, with everything you need and they work hard at updating the drivers for new operating systems. Asus is the best motherboard on the market.

Motherboard BIOS softwere for update

The process of upgrading the BIOS on a computer is also
called "FLASHING" the BIOS.

On very old computers (486 and older) the BIOS may be
permanently programmed into read-only memory chips,
which are not flash-able, although it may be possible to
replace the chips, or re-program them using special
equipment by a qualified technician.

On virtual all modern computers, the BIOS can be updated
using new data and a special FLASH program available via
download from the manufacturer.

This is a very dangerous procedure that can destroy the
motherboard if performed incorrectly, and should not be
performed unless absolutely necessary, such as when
you computer or software will not run properly without it.

Most mother board manufacturer's (for example Asus) offer
software patches and downloads on their web site, as well
as BIOS upgrades.

Note that the BIOS is 100% board specific, installing the wrong
BIOS can permanently destroy *********** board, so make sure
that you download the correct one for your board.

Once you have the downloaded the BIOS upgrade, there are 3
possibilities:

1) The downloaded file is self-installing, either from Windows,
or it creates a boot-able diskette, which in turn contains all
the files needed to update (FLASH) the BIOS.

2) The BIOS comes with a a separate installer (.exe) which
either runs from Windows or via a boot-able diskette.

3) The existing BIOS has a "built-in" flash utility, accessable
through the BIOS settings. This utility runs at a very low
level without any operating system to self-update the BIOS
from your download binary file, located on the hard drive or
on a diskette.

This is by far the best and safest way to do the job, but only
if your motherboard and (existing BIOS) has that capability.

===
In any event, the first step is to visit the manufacturer's WEB
site, then go to SUPPORT or DOWNLOADS.

Find the exact model and version number of you motherboard
in the manufacturer's list, and download the latest BIOS
update, and any installation (or flashing) utilities that come
with it.

1) Follow the manufacturer's instruction exactly !!!!

2) Do not turn off the computer until the BIOS update is
complete, and you are instructed to do so !!!

N.B.
The computer BIOS is the lowest level program on your PC,
without which the computer CANNOT read the disk drives or
perform the lowest necessary functions.

If the BIOS is damaged, or
If the wrong upgrade is installed, or
If the upgrade is performed incorrectly, or
If the upgrade is interrupted or crashes before finishing,

the computer may become unable to repair itself, and
the mother-board may become permanently unusable.

(This depends on the actual mother-board and BIOS design,
and on the damage done by the failed installation)

Good luck,
