Question about Kenmore Elite Oasis 27052 Top Load Washer

1 Answer

Enmore elite oasis HE 110.2708 - It starts with an SD code and then goes to F-51.

Just started last night. I have tried different cycle settings and sometimes you actually think that it will finish the cycle but then here comes the code. I tried cleaning the connector with sandpaper like you had in another post. Maybe I cleaned the wrong connector. There is one that looks like a computer connector and on that is about 1 inch long. Any suggestions?

    Hello!

  • CDSnodgrass Jan 12, 2009

Hello, thank you for getting back with me. I have a Kenmore Oasis eleite Calypso, top loading model # 27086601. We have accomplished a couple of things since yesterday. My husband helped me to remove the bottome part, we cleaned the connector that has 3 wires attached which we had seen on one of your previous post. We also took the connector that has wires if I remember correctly and took it out and put it back in 10 times as in a cleaning effort.

The washer is giving an SD code even with no detergentand I only use HE detergent in my washer and then it is also giving an F-51. After cleaning the the connector from your post with sandpaper and the other connector by insertion and removal, we are now able to get it to go through a full wash cyle on every mode except normal and express. On these two selections, it goes all the way through the wash cycle and rinse cycle but when it comes time to spin it throws those two codes and then tries to rinse again but will not spin the clothes out.

I will have my husband pull the machine out when he gets home so that I am able to tell you the meaning of F-51 which from what I have read so far has something to do with the computer on top no being able to communicate with the computer on the bottom but it seems like that would happen in all cycles not just two.

Have unplugged the machine for several minutes at the time trying to get it to release the lid lock when it james with the F-51 code.

Thank you for looking at this for me.

F-51 error code is the RPS sensor. (Basically it tells the main circuit board up top how the basket is moving [which direction and how fast]) You had it spot on about the cleaning of the contacts that you did. That's just where I would have started. While there is a possibility there is a bad sensor, I would also clean the contacts in the console for those same 3 wires while I was getting out the tech sheet I mentioned earlier. Also I would check for something between the basket (the silver part where you load clothes) and the tub (the outer plastic "bucket" your basket sits in) It is not uncommon to find something between the 2. This would account for the F-51 and the SD.

You were also correct about your reference to the SD code. Usually it indicates suds in the tub most commonly caused by using a non-HE soap. Basically when the tub is draining a slow drain is often measured by the machine in the same way suds are.

This is actually an after thought, but since it's easier to check I put it above the basket/ tub check because it can cause the same issue and is quicker and easier. Check your drain hose where it goes into the wall. Make sure it is ONLY in about 8-10 inches. Too far down it can cause drainage problems which would trigger the same 2 codes you've mentioned.

The big part is to now check between the basket and the tub. Are you and your husband up to it? Not to worry, It's actually pretty easy.

    1st - Unplug your machine.
2nd - Get a SMALL flat head screw driver and a flash light.
3rd - Use the flash light to shine in the space where the top of the unit and front of it come together. On the right and left side on the front there will be 2 tabs that you will push on with the screw driver and pry gently up. Work it back and forth (you cant do one side at a time due to 2 pins that come up from the bottom and wont let the top twist that much) I would also put some kind of cloth over the screw driver to prevent from chipping the paint. Tilt the lid back and tie it off if possible or have one of you hold it (it's not heavy)
4th - again use your small screw driver to remove the center cap in the middle of the basket.
5th - Remove the bolt from under the cap (I think it's 7/16")
lift the basket out. Be very careful of the outside of the basket where the holes are. It is will be sharp by design (do not file down) Use a pair of gloves perhaps.
6th - check for soap build up (white residue) Most like since you use HE soap you will not have this. Is there anything extra in the bottom of the tub? In the bottom back right hand side there are 2 1/4 screws. Remove this and look into the hole. Is something stuck in here? You can try to fish something out if you find something in here, just be very careful. On the other side of the hole is a rubber hose that bends at a 90 degree angle. One hole and water everywhere. Do no be surprised if you find an under-wire around there either. It is common that once they work their way out of a bra, they go through the holes in the tub and lodge in the pump. Over time things build up around them and slow or even stop the drain.

Start with these and let me know how it goes. I will post this again as a clarification in case there are still issues.

Also check your owners guide. Even if your warranty is up for the labor, you might still be under warranty if it a circuit board issue. I just give you all the free tips first. :)

I wanted to get back with you as soon as I could. Unfortunately the header that was supplied came out "Enmore elite oasis HE 110.2708 - it starts with an..." and that is all the header I get. While I was able to see the body portion about "tried cleaning a connector", "something from a previous post" and that it "just started last night". So 2 things I will ask so we can get you taken care of.

1st is to please reply with the issue you are having. 2nd any error codes. 3rd your specific model number (this can be found under the lid at the rear center of the machine).

Also to help yourself since I do not know what issue you have yet, you can also unplug your machine for 45 seconds to try a quick reset. If that doesn't work and you have an error code, unplug your unit again, remove the 4 screws along the rear of the console (that the part that has all of your controls) and underneath you will find a paper with the explination of the error codes and the possible causes. Before replacing any parts that it directs you to, make sure to reply back to me first as there are some things not on that list that can cause the same problem with out the cost of parts replacement.

Look forward to hearing back from you.

How do I unclog the long drain Kenmore elite oasis?

Honestly, we got rid of the machine and bought a Maytag Neptune. I was over trying to figure out all the codes the Oasis was flashing. We gave up on the first one that started having problems when a friend gave us one identical to ours and it has done a lot of the same things.

I have an kenmore elite =sm9711174. the spin cycle does not always start. i have to manually spin a couple times then it starts, but now does not spin fast. only slow. do i need a new belt?

this washer does not have a belt. The motor is a direct drive. it should give you a error code at time if it is unable to spin. some codes are F-51, F-dl, and UL. from the sounds of it the main board may need to be replaced part#W10189966.

Hello, I have a Kenmore Elite Oasis washer model

On this washer, the dl code indicates a failed lid lock mechanism. Pressing pause/cancel should reset the controls.

You may have to unplug the unit for 20-30 minutes, then restore the power.

If that doesn't work, the only other solution would be to replace the door lock assembly.

Error code 5d?

Hi
This is actually a SD code meaning to many suds. The machine will drain out mid-cycle when you push stop. You can then start the load over without adding any additional soap. Make sure you use the recommended amount of HE soap.

Kenmore elite oasis top load model 580 error F51

There is no reason or condition that will requir having to doing that for correct operation. That indicates the board as being defective. Just asking if your water is draining correctly? When you start cycle, after it finnishes loading the water, can you get it to drain at all. If you can, the board is the problem.

Kenmore Elite Oasis Model# 110.27087603

I had a very similar problem with my Oasis He Washer 110.27087603. The machine was randomly cycling through different water temperature indication lights. It would repeatedly beep and not allow a wash cycle to complete. Fixya.com alerted me to the "upgrade" to the electronic control W10112112 to W10189966. My machine was scheduled service and a Sears tech replaced that board. My problem with random cycling continued and the tech stated the touch panel electronics; part # 8564392 would fix the problem. He said one of the microswitches on the panel was probably stuck and not allowing the machine to enter a wash cycle. I found the 8564392 panel at http://www.prosupplyco.com/search.aspx?find=8564392 for a very reasonable price. Realize that Whirlpool parts are Whirlpool parts and Sears doesn't hold the only key to them.
