Question about HP LaserJet 4700 Printer
I recently installed a used HP 4700n ColorJet printer. It works fine with Word, Publisher and Quickbooks, but I can't print from Excel, Outlook or PDF files. I also can't set the 4700 to be the default printer.

a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

Hey look, sorry for all the BS you've been given. Its an issue here.
How much ram does your laser jet hold right now?
This would be the choke point on an HP laser jet.
A typical PDF file in high res can be many many megabytes in size and the HP Laser treats these documents as an image file, same in true in Windows, but uses local ram not printer ram like an Apple.
So, if you have a 256K chip, its possible, on your printer and the file is 4-6 MBs in size, you could be looking at a 16-20 minute print job.
I'm not familiar with any tricks to get your printer to use local ram as a cache. If you have Boot Camp, you might consider starting that emulator up and printing from that interface. No real hope for a difference but its worth the try.
Hope that give you some real thoughts to chew over.

SOURCE: Pale print on PDF files
It sounds like a driver problem. Try replacing the driver for this printer on the printers folder, using the HP LaserJet Series II. With this driver, try again the PDF file and see if it prints correctly.

Could be that your printer driver got corrupted.
Go out to www.hp.com/#support.
Enter your printer type and operating system and select the driver you want and download it.
